New pics with named pilots for Wave 3

By Bjorn Rockfist, in X-Wing

Ten Numb - Looks like "When attacking 1 of your {Crit} or {Hit} cannot be cancelled by (blocked, but could be either Evade or Focus…I'm leaning towards Evade)"

Captain Jonus - Looks like "When another friendly ship at Range 1 attacks with a secondary weapon it may reroll up to (blocked, but could be 2 blanks)"

The new models look great. I like that Captain Jonus promotes formation tactics.

Any news on a release date?

All I can say is they desperately need to errata Horton Salm to include an Elite Pilot upgrade. If a PS 6 TIE bomber can have one there is no reason at all to keep it away from a PS 8 Y-Wing vet…

Agreed on that one!

This is really exciting to see! Where exactly did you find this?

Awesome! Looking at Ten Numb closley I think I can see a bit of white in the hit symbol. So it probably means a crit. Not as ungodly awesome as if it was a normal hit but it does mean that a proton is going to be much better on him than on anything else. Unfortunatly the HLC and ion cannon will make that still a total waste.

Captain Jonus looks amazing. A nice mirror of Howlrunner's ability. And might make cluster missiles much better if you can reroll one die on both attacks.

I disagree. Pilot Skill is kind of abstracted initiative, but many of the Elite Pilot upgrades are dependent on the capabilities of the ship, and Y-Wings just aren't maneuverable enough to pull off Expert Handling's barrel roll, or the tight turns of a Daredevil, or to have the performace to Push The Limit, etc. An Elusive Y-Wing is kind of a silly notion IMHO.

Second, FFG just flat out doesn't put out Errata unless there's an error. It creates confusion to have to carry around a list of "this is what it *really* says" that not everyone may be taking into account when playing or squad building, so they tend to not put stuff on there unless there's a legitimate need.

I'm prepared to eat my words on the first point if the maneuver dial for a TIE Bomber is equal to or less than a Y-Wing, but I doubt it will be.

If i had to guess, those of us who go to GenCon might get first crack at them. Unfortunately, you'll have to waste a good portion of your morning standing in line because FFG doesn't "limit" purchases to allow for more people to get a hold of them…

Of course, all the sites with information about the Y-Wing make the claim that overall it is more maneuverable than the B-Wing, but what the hell. If the Millenium Falcon, the Slave 1, and the LAMBDA SHUTTLE can have elite upgrades despite their maneuverability, there is no reason at all not to allow the Y-Wing to do so as well.

The LAMBDA SHUTTLE can have them for crying out loud, there is no argument at ALL about "lacking maneuverability".

Dutch is pretty powerful right now without an eluite pilot upgrade. Horton does need one to continue to be viable in the future. As for not being able to do barrel rolls and stuff, X-Wings cant right now, but any mook with an elite pilot upgrade can take expert handling (because, you know, they are an expert) and do a free barrel roll action.

Hell, Cessna 172's aren't supposed to be able to do a barrel roll, but I am sure that I would be able to fly a barrel roll if given the proper motivation.

Am I the only one to find that the mid-gray patches of the B-Wing seem like unpainted areas, same color you get from unpainted plastic miniatures?

It does kind of look like that now that you mention it. I think its the packaging making the color look weird. Not to mention I think the color on the B-Wing is sort of similar to sprue gray.

Here's hoping that since theses images are definitely renders rather than pictures taken from cameras, that the retail version won't have this sprue color feel.

Looks great the models, thanks for the info Bjorn, also thanks for the links to the pedia :)

Not sure if the grey areas are an issue with the model or the camera, I think is a camera issue, but … if there is a grey area I'll paint it… not a problem :D

I think this shows the area best:

Does not look unfinished to me at all.

Well since if you strip the paint off these models they aren't gray plastic I'd say they are painted that way. I agree with Hexis…looks well painted.
