My favorite part of the article is:

One of the most exciting parts of working on Beyond the Rim was being able to bridge the Clone Wars with the Rebellion era in the adventure’s backstory. We were able to draw from the original trilogy, the prequel movies, and The Clone Wars animated series in order to bring this adventure to life, and it led to some fun and interesting developments. You don’t often get to see B1 battle droids pitted against scout troopers or Imperial Security Bureau agents pursuing Separatist traitors. We even managed to give a nod to the Old Republic, so players should look out for that as they play through the adventure.

Looking forward to run this. :)

This is great, I was hoping for modules :)

As a new pnp rpg'er they are always great because of my limited xp Gm'ing.

Now if I just had some friends that like to game, lol.

It's nice to see that FFG is planning on supporting their product line with full-fledged adventures.

And 3rd Quarter 2013 isn't that far off, though with the way scheduling has been going with EotE, I'm thinking it'll be towards the end of the 3rd Quarter (placing it for September release I think), but early 3rd quarter would certainly be cool.

I'm also hoping that this adventure uses some of it's page count to flesh out the various places the adventure visits, such as the Wheel and Raxus Prime, beyond just the adventure requires of those places. The mention of subplots is certainly promising in that regard.

Any word on what levels this will geared towards? How does FFG do their adventures? Level based or story based?

There are no levels per se in the game. It is stated that the adventureis geared towards beginners as well as veterans.

I can't wait to play this. This game looks amazing. I love the over look of the game. The graphic design is beautiful. I really want games that support them with adventures, campaigns, core books, splat books, and minis. So much of the gaming industry has done away with these types of things. I understand that money is an issue and that the hobby is struggling but with a name like Star Wars and the professionalism of FFG they have the potential to make something truly special here. I haven't been this excited in a long time about a game.

Very excited to see this news! Can't wait to run it, or at least cherry pick it for additions to my current campaign.

Can anyone identify what the species on the cover is? At first I thought rodian, but I can't see the antenna things, and it really doesn't look all that rodian. That said I can't blow it up and get a decent pic from it. My comp is way too outdated for that. Maybe a Garindan, without the mask, that would be sexy.

Be well,

I know that's just mockup art at this point, and not a photo of the product, but is this thing gonna be… hardcover ?

Seems a little excessive for a module. Does FFG usually do hardcovers for the modules in their other lines?

That would be pretty nice if it was hardcover.

But from what I've seen of FFG's products on the shelves, both at "big box" bookstores and at the FLGS, most of their adventures are softcovers. And at 96 pages, I'm inclined to think softcover would be the more cost effective option.

I could be wrong, and this could very well be a hardcover release. But I'm not pinning my hopes on it.

I think the 40K books are.

It looks like they are emulating the 40K lines as far as suppliment mill.

Adventure book, check.

Next should be character options, and then an enemies book if they stick to the script.

two more modules and the core rulebook isnt even out yet. Wow, great to see the support they are putting out for this game already!!

Very cool! reir

I agree. It's interesting to move back into the Rebellion era, but now having the back story of the prequels. I look forward to to seeing how the module blends together the different elements.

Well, I re-checked the WH40K RPG shelf at the fLGS, and it would seem that all of FFG's products for that line are hardcover.

So I'd say the odds* might be pretty good that "Beyond the Rim" will be hardcover as well.

*yeah, yeah, I nkow, never tell you the odds :D

I actually hope that it isn't hardcover (but I'm prepared to accept it). That was always my problem with SAGA - the books were so pretty, I felt like I had to handle them with kid gloves (I like to keep nice-looking books looking nice).

I miss them good ol' softcover WEG supplements that you had no qualms about tossing around the table or throwing in your bookbag. Alas, I suppose those days are long gone…

I am stoked for this product. It looks like they're going to start with a good template of how to design adventures that give everyone a chance to shine. I really like the frontier concepts provided for the Colonists and Explorers careers.

I'll tell ya what I like: BOXES. The epic D&D adventure, "Night Below," was a damned work of art. Booklets! Maps! Encounter cards! Counters! WotC started doing sorta "poor man's versions" which were folios, but they rocked too. I'd much rather have stuff like that than a hardboud text. I mean, how many times ya gonna run it? And… MAPS!!?

All that said, I'm greatly looking forward to it. just… release the stuff, already.

Awesome! and it is set on The Wheel !! Double awesome!

Be well,

The species on the cover definitely looks Rodian to me. In the larger image of the cover shown in the news article, you can see the silhouette of two points coming off of the right side (viewer perspective) of his head. The one on top is where his antennae would be and the lower one is his ear. You can't make out the second antennae, because it blends in with his head.

Also, I think that the species you are talking about is Kubaz. Garindan was the name of the Kubaz spy seen in Mos Eisley. I'm not going to pretend that I knew that, though. I wasn't familiar with Garindan, so I looked him up.
