The Book of Ships

By LeBlanc13, in Rogue Trader

I glimpsed a preview on the Rogue Trader pages about starships and how they are modular in make up. It says a few "example" ships have been provided for those that are no interested in crafting their own.

Why not have a whole book on ships of the 40k galaxy?

It'd be awesome to see a treatment done on the main ships of each of the fleets located in the Calixis sector. I'd love to see space hulks, Imperial naval ships, Eldar corsair ships.

Rogue trader screams for this and it seems with the Rogue Trader rulebook our appetites will only be wetted with a smattering of sample ships.

Please give us more!!!

Heh. Don't worry, it will come most surely.

I was also thinking it would be cool to see rules for orbital bombardment and the siege and or destruction of planets, not that I'm trying to annihilate whole worlds. I'm just thinking it could give the books some more meat rather than just including ship stats.

Rules for planetary defence, orbital satellites, space stations....

These are a few of my favorite things!

Sound´s good - but why not having also more "exotic" ships like enolian spacecruisers, ancient human ships from the dark age of technology, civilian crafts and the like ? cool.gif

First we need something akin to the Starwars d6 Imperial Sourcebook. (How a regiment looks like which regiments there are around and the composition of a fleet (or maybe even the composition of the current crusade in calixis etc)

A book of ships is indeed a cool idea. I'd prefer to see it as part weapons catalogue (here are ships you can buy) sourcebook (here are ships operating in the Koronus Expanse) and part adventure seed source (here are some notable hulks/pirate vessels for you to destroy/pillage)

Here is a much better idea= Have core examples in the main book, then, provide a new ship every week on the support site.

It would actually be even cooler to provide a new world, a new deadly encounter, and a new ship every week, items of that nature, on the support site. I do not think it would be difficult, it could even be fan created items which have been approved by Mr. Watson. It would fuel a huge exploration adventure. A GM who was stumped could get online, look at the weekly support, and get his players busy.

Great idea. Giving a weekly "bonus" on the website is a great way to generate continuing interest in the game. Still want the book/anthology/etc., but I like the idea of a weekly monster/xeno/ship/equipment on the website.

I just wanted to weigh in real quick here in my support for a "Book of Ships" perhaps BFG style with fluff and stats for use in DH or RT, hell even concise rules for calling on bombardment support for use in 40K if you want!

Also weekly supplements would be cool!
