So back to tsondaboy's question, yes, I guess you would need to remember that. But the odds of this happening in a real game are pretty rare. I've never seen or heard of it happening in our league between two enemy ships. Its a lot more common for 2 friendly ships, but then the shooting part isn't an issue.
