“Merry did not like this talk of wild men and poisoned darts, but quite apart from that a great weight of dread was on him. Waiting was unbearable. He longed to know what was going to happen.”
–J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King

The Dark Lord’s agents secretly plot against strength of Gondor. When several of Middle-earth’s heroes expose one of these agents, they begin a pursuit that will take them far beyond the walls of Minas Tirith…

The Drúadan Forest , the second Adventure Pack in the Against the Shadow cycle for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game , is now available at your local retailer and online through our webstore !

The second chapter in the Against the Shadow story arc, The Drúadan Forest builds upon the layered mysteries of The Steward’s Fear . Its new scenario leads several of Middle-earth’s greatest heroes into the ancient wilderness outside of Minas Tirith. There, they’ll make a startling discovery: the greatest threat they face is not from the foe they seek…

The Drúadan Forest introduces players to the Wild Men of Middle-earth, the Woses. These mistrustful and reclusive hunters are expert Archers and will test your heroes with their all-new Prowl mechanics. Meanwhile, as you seek to overcome the Woses’ initial hostility, a new Silvan hero, Mirlonde ( The Drúadan Forest , 32), arrives to guide you through the woods, and you’ll be able to explore new strategies made possible by the Adventure Pack’s player cards, including new options for mono-sphere decks.

Woses on the Prowl

“On the ground sat a strange squat shape of a man, gnarled as old stone, and the hairs of his scanty beard straggled on his lumpy chin like dry moss. He was short-legged and fat-armed, thick and stumpy, and clad only with grass about his waist.”
–J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King

The Woses of Middle-earth are a strange and mysterious race, and The Drúadan Forest brings them to life. While your heroes head deeper and deeper into the ancient woods, the Woses follow their every step. Expert hunters and archers, these Woses fight to defend their home from invasion, and their Prowl ability will keep your heroes on their heels.

Resources in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game are more than gold, gems, and coin. They can represent food, equipment, and anything else your heroes need to acquire to establish themselves upon their quest. As canny hunters, the Woses know better than to attack a band of foes who are fully equipped. Instead, they’ll pillage your stores and deplete your resources, leaving you ill-equipped for the coming battles.

The new scenario in The Drúadan Forest illustrates the Woses’ ability to stalk their prey by combining a number of enemies with the Prowl keyword with effects that punish fellowships that can’t hold onto their resources.

For example, the Drúadan Thief ( The Drúadan Forest , 49) steals a resource when he enters the staging area, and his shadow ability forces an enemy to return to the staging area after attacking unless a player pays one resource to keep it engaged with the player it attacked. Likewise, the Drúadan Hunter ( The Drúadan Forest , 48) combines its Prowl ability with an Archery ability that gets stronger for each hero it helped deplete of resources. And if you want to travel to locations like Garden of Poisons ( The Drúadan Forest , 51), guess what? That’s right, you’ll need to spend a resource.

In the end, after numerous suffering raids and attacks initiated by these Wild Men, you may want to raze the forest to the ground and destroy them all, but you must not forget who is the true enemy… To combat the growing Shadow, cooler heads must prevail, or all is lost!
