Red Squadron Flies out

By Englishpete, in X-Wing

I am looking to master X-Wings. (The only ship that I consistently can't fly). I came up with this little list. I think it has survivability and hitting power and keeps me flying a number of ships I like (3).

Any thoughts on it before it flies into combat?

Total Squad Points: 98

Pilot: Biggs Darklighter
X-Wing (25)
Upgrades:

  • R2-F2 (3)
  • Stealth (3)

Pilot: Garven Dreis
X-Wing (26)
Upgrades:

  • R2-D2 (4)

Pilot: Wedge Antilles
X-Wing (29)
Upgrades:

  • Push The Limit (3)
  • Proton Torpedoes (4)
  • R2 Astromech (1)

I think this is a decent list to work on your X-wing flying skills. You need to stay within range 1/2 to take of advantage of your abilities, so you can work on keeping your ships close.

Regarding your build, I would consider the following:

  • Think about what kind of formation you want to run. Biggs moves first and you often want him in the back.
  • Once Biggs goes down, Garven will generally only be able to pass his focus to Wedge after he's already shot. If you want a little more synergy, putting Swarm Tactics on Wedge allows Garven to shoot first and pass his focus to Wedge. Then Wedge can still fire with Target Lock + Focus.

I did consider that and it would free 2 points off and allow a shield upgrade on Wedge or Garven. Actually, if I did that, I'd drop the proton and have shield upgrades on both of them.

The list would then look like this.

Total Squad Points: 100

Pilot: Biggs Darklighter
X-Wing (25)
Upgrades:

  • R2-F2 (3)
  • Stealth (3)

Pilot: Garven Dreis
X-Wing (26)
Upgrades:

  • R2-D2 (4)
  • Shield Upgrade (4)

Pilot: Wedge Antilles
X-Wing (29)
Upgrades:

  • Swarm Tactics (2)
  • Shield Upgrade (4)
