I'm thinking of running an online game, as events in my day to day life have made things a bit unstable for trying to deal with a new group or adding folks to my current group. I have what I feel is a decent plotline, and a desire to have somewhere around 5 good players, maybe more depending on format.

So I'm trying to decide where online to run, be it play by post, play by email, html chat room at set day and time each week, or something else that I might not have thought about. So I am giving those of you here at the FFG forum first shot on getting involved, and to those selected to play, a chance to have input on the format in which we play. Below are some details for those thinking about being involved.

Characters are to be built with 2000 Exp. This plot is not for those freshly tossed into the grinder.

At start of play, characters will know each other, having been an established group for their selected Inquisitor for some time. Yes this means that once players are selected, characters made and approved, the group will need to work out among itself something of a background.

You must be prepared to see some push on the defined line of the universe, so no one screaming into the night about what would / could / would not / could not happen in the 40K universe. The warp is large and powerful... Anything Can Happen if Chaos is let loose to run rampant.

I haven't done an online setup before but I'm definately game in trying it out. I'm open to any career path, but to get some sort of focus I just used the character generator over on suptg to randomly roll up something to get some ideas. So based on that character that I saved there:

Homeworld: Void Born, Rogue Trader Ship

Preferred Ordo: Any, though I'd see more likely Xenos if he was on a Rogue Trader ship. Hereticus or Malleus would work in their own ways.

Days/Times: Evenings during the weekdays from mostly Seven to Midnight-ish Eastern USA time zone as my weekends are mostly spoken for.

If you follow the link, you'll see that we have a number of RPGs, and plenty of players from which to draw. By far the most popular is Daemonhunters, or only true Dark Heresy game, although the characters have gotten a bit overpowered.

I adminstrate the groups, and am always looking out for good GMs to run games. I can pretty much ensure enough players to get your story moving, as well as any support you would need. The background is a bit different from Calexis Sector, as the group was started in 2004, but we can pretty much add any new worlds that we need, or even another sub-sector, and already have a fairly well-established setting.

This sounds great, having a hard time finding a group to be a player instead of a GM in this is a great chance to experience the game from the view of the players. Never tried roleplaying in any of those formats before, though the chat variant sounds fun.

www.rpol.net is another great play by post site. I run a game there myself with almost 5000 posts.

Lets see I might be interested in playing depending on when/how we play. If we play through chat friday, Saturday or Sunday would work best. The other days I can play every second week and on top of that be iregular. My schedule would prefer a board but I am not sure how well that would work out, if we do I could post daily. By chat Europe day or evening in the weekend and in the evening weekdays.

Career Path: Assassin (Moritat or Gunslinger are possible options, having done both in the past. I have also played an Untouchable Assassin, as one player above is suggesting for his. While I am inclined towards that path myself, it is at the GM's discretion and thus unsure if I will take that path again.)

Home world: Imperial.

Ordo: Hereticus has the most options, however I am not against playing Ordo Malleus as it is the one I have not seen much of and am interested in the idea itself of Ordo Malleus.

Days/Preferred Time: Due to working shift work, my time is subject to changing quite a bit, at least for now. This might change in the future as I am in the middle of attempting to find another job (the economy is not making it easy).

Preferred Style of Play: Almost any is fine by me.

Second edit: Heh, completely forgot Noble. It is more likely I would take noble. Depends on how I craft the character, I'll see. So: Noble/Imperial/Gunmetal. I'll see what happens with the group first, wouldn't want to screw things up.

What I am thinking, if we can make this work, would be to play by post, via RPoL, with GM providing between 2 and 3 posts per day, so long as everyone can get in their responses.

As to the other website via yahoo, I will be contacting you about setting up something there as well, though that may be only a once daily post, but I have a rather interesting idea, I just need to work it out a bit.

Fair warning, there will be select off dates and most likely a 1 week downtime as I have a trip and move coming up. Those will be annouced as need.

I will post a reply here with the info in the next 24 hours.

If I am not mistaken, I am counting 6 players thus far, and there are 1-3 more who will be involved that I know offline, who are unable to catch up at the moment due to issues RL, so I think I will cap requests there, and let things start getting organized. Thank you everyone!

Would any of the players be interested in setting up a small online chat to figure out things? We're all starting off at 2000 XP and thus we'll have some story to create as an acolyte cell. Not to mention, figuring out our character themselves - given we've all listed a fair amount of options, not to mention two of us could potentially be playing Untouchables and what-not.

1) How are we doing stats? I know http://invisiblecastle.com/ has a stat roller.

2) At the beginning of the game, what supplies do we have access to/thrones? Will we be starting off with a set amount of thrones and then to buy our own gear from the books?

3) RPoL - I am not terribly fimilar with. Is it a chat room sort of thing? Or...? I'll look into it myself, just wondering if it's anything like OpenRPG etc.

Already working on pre-Inquisition training and background. Though the question of stat rolling is a good one since many traits and such require certain levels of ability. Otherwise hopefully I'll talk with you guys about character backgrounds shortly.
