I apologize ahead of time if this has been answered. If you have an R2 Astromech (Treat all 1- and 2-speed manoeuvres as green manoeuvres), Daredevil (Action: Execute a red [
1] or [
1] maneuver. Then, if you do not have the
action icon, roll 2 attack dice. Suffer any damage [
] or critical damage [
] rolled) and Engine Upgrade (Your action bar gains the
action icon) can you preform the [
1] or [
1] maneuver and not get a stress, because of the R2, or roll for damage, because of the Engine Upgrade?
R2 Astromech, Daredevil, and Engine Upgrade?
Correct (though that seems rather expensive).
I agree it's expensive….wasn't really ever planning on using it. Just wondered if it would work lol.
It has been, lets just say. Your best bet for searching is just to google your search terms with "site:www.fantasyflightgames.com" and that's far and away better than the site's search feature.
To make a long story short, yes, it works. While Daredevil doesn't actually give a stress at the moment (the designer has stated it will be corrected in a future FAQ) the practical result is that only Luke and Wedge can equip the full combo. I've tried it with Wedge and while it's fun, it doesn't make up for the X-Wing's unimpressive movement dial.

It is in the current FAQ (from February) that modifiers that increase maneuver difficulty take priority over effects that reduce maneuver difficulty. So, you will still get the stress token from this set up.

That is not correct, for two reasons.
First, because Daredevil just says "Execute a Maneuver" and "Check Pilot Stress" is a separate step which is not part of the Action. This is what the designer was saying will be addressed in the next FAQ.
Second, Daredevil doesn't increase the maneuver's difficulty, it just states what difficulty the maneuver is. The FAQ entry is specifically in reference to R2 Astromech and whatever that Critical Hit Card is, where they both say "Treat all X as Y" which is a modification, either to increase or decrease. The designer has stated that R2 Astromech does make Daredevil a green maneuver.
So, the new FAQ is out and I want to check that my understanding of the new rules is correct:
"Daredevil

The first sentence on this card should read:
“Action: Execute a white [ 1] or [ 1] maneuver.
Then, receive 1 stress token.”"
Lets assume we have Wedge + R2 astromech + Engine Mod
I take the Daredevil action, I execute a green turn and I receive 1 stress token. I assume that I then don't get to remove that stress because you don't check Pilot Stress during/after performing an action?
Correct. You check for Pilot Stress after you move but before you take any actions so the stress you receive from Daredevil stays. However, with the new card Advanced Sensors that's coming in Wave 3 which allows you to take your action(s) before you move, the stress generated by the Daredevil card would be removed if you perform the action prior to moving the ship.
