"Dodging" Flamer Attacks

By Baldrick, in Dark Heresy House Rules

Hi all. Came up with this and wanted to run it past you. It's not been playtested.

With a Flamer attack you dodge using an Agility test (modified by whether the wielder has the appropiate talent). However I was thinking could you take into account the Dodge skill?

I'm not suggesting that you turn the Agility test into a Dodge test as it would make flamer attacks far too powerful. However I was thinking that maybe someone with the dodge skill should get something like +10/+20 on the test.

Any thoughts? Or leave it as written?

I let my players choose.

If they haven't used up their reaction, they may choose to use dodge skill, but will have spent their reaction in doing so. If they cannot dodge, because their reaction is already spent or whatever, they must use Agi.

However unless they have Dodge +10 or Dodge +20 it is the same roll.

A player with Dodge would never choose to use a reaction as they would get the same roll with base Agility. I'd like to encourage players to use the reaction (and then face the consequences) by offer a bonus if they use the dodge skill.
