Had my first win ever in this game yesterday.
I've lost to a 9 year old, 10 year old, my wife, my 5 year old and my friend a couple of times. Last night was my first win.
It was Krassis Trelix with HLC, Gunner, Engine upgrades, Assault missiles with Mauler Mithel and Dark Curse both with engine upgrades.
I had Lando with Nien Numb, homing missiles, millenium Falcon title, engine upgrade, Dutch with ion cannon, engine upgrade, R2D2 and torpedos.
In the first couple of rounds I damaged his two TIEs and Mauler Mithel at range one nearly wiped out my shields with 4 attack dice. After pointlessly taget locking Dark Curse a few times I left him alone with the Falcon and my Y-wings ion cannon managed to send Dark Curse into an asteroid that he never came back from.
My friend seemed to concentrate on the Falcon only and left the Y-Wing alone. ( it was only his second game). He finished off my Falcon with the Firesprays HLC. One more hit on the back quarter and it was done for.
Y-Wing pumped a few shots into Mauler Mithel who left his back exposed and his TIE fighter went in two different directions.
That left a full health Krassis and Dutch a fair way from each other. As they turned and flew towards each other Dutch put an ion blast on target and the firespray HLC took out two shield layers of the Y-Wing.
Next round the Y-wing wiped out the Firesprays shields from range 1 with some lucky rolls for me and unlucky for my friend.
But he then proceeded to wipe out my shields and reduce my attack by hitting my primary weapon array. (down to one dice).
I hit his engines and reduced his agility to 1 with a crit meanwhile R2 was charging my shields back to full in the rounds that followed while we were both trying to maneuver for another head on pass. Shot were traded in these rounds and my shields were lost and charged.
I got my guns back to full with a action roll needed then hit the firespray down to 1 hull left.
I lost two shields that round from the HLC and gunner.
Then the ion cannon came into effect and the final hit was done and Krassis difted with no power and collided with an asteroid where he remained.
I jumped up at this point and did a victory lap of the couch for my first win.
A few rules we got wrong along the way but we made our errors seem to make sense. (they wouldn't be allowed in tournaments I bet).
I love this game.
