I have played all WEG and WOTC versions of Star Wars and I was a member on the WOTC forum and I recently purchased the EotE Beginner game as well as the Beta rule book. I have been reading over the Beta and have not found what the total amount of damage from a cucessful Brawl attack is. Can anyone point out where it is listed in Beta? I was thinking it would be the characters Brawn but want to know for sure.

I know Brawl attacks effect Strain not wounds and thought I read somewhere that Brawl attack damage is not effected by soak am I correct on Soak no effecting Brawl damage.

Look under Unarmed Combat on page 137 Beta or page 18 Beginner Rulebook. Base unarmed damage is your Brawn rating.

as a side note I will say that it is a pitty that armours in this game provide the same amount of protection against unarmed combat as they do against a blaster shot.

Honestly that is a granularity I can do without. Its armour and it protects you. We also have melee and ranged adjustments to defense. I`m sure once its out, if you want to adjust statistics of armour to protect more in one instance than another you can, but I am quite content with the way it is now.

Thanks I did find the rule under Unarmed combat shortly after I posted. Its funny they repeat things over and over thru out the book on brawl and brawling but that was the only section about unarmed combat they only mention Unarmed combat damage once. Maybe they should mention under Brawn at the beginning of the book that Brawn is used also as the base to figure out Melee and Unarmed damage.
