So I know there are people posting about the HWK-290's size being wrong. They are sighting Wookieepedia having the length at 29 meters which would put it almost as long as the Falcon. FFG contacted Lucasfilms before starting on the HWK-290 and asked for the official dimensions. Lucasfilms told them 16.5 meters. So that the confused people will be confused no more…..I edited the Wookieepedia entry for the HWK-290. So there you go it now says it is 16.5 meters.

Wasn't it cargo freighter also? Those dimension would make sense.

Lucasfilms said it was 16.5 meters….that makes it canon. So FFG has it to scale per Lucasfilms. Yes it was a freighter, but a small one.

Seems more like a two-man heavy fighter than a freighter to me.

The Wookieepedia article that listed the HWK so big was totally wrong. The dimensions came from a RPG sourcebook, but why it listed the HWK dimensions as so large is beyond me. I can tell you from experience (I've played hours of Dark Forces and Jedi Knight) that the HWK is only the size of a fighter craft. FFG got the scale perfect, take a look at any screen shot or game footage.

I know this T Chick I to played to many hours to count on Dark Forces. That is why I changed the length on the Wookieepedia entry LOL.

Think of it more as a space pick up truck instead of a freighter. Just like the falcon is more of a small semi.

There are modern airplanes designed primaraly to carry people and cargo but are considerable smaller than an F-14.

I am totally okay with a "freighter" the size of a Fighter. Sure it wouldn't be useful in the comercial sense for ahlling freight, But the HWK-290 really just flys people arround. When you think about it the Falcon is a little bit of overkill (in cargo capacity) for most of what Han uses it for.

So we have an instellar "freighter" with less cargo capacity than your average commercial tractor/trailor. Sounds totally reasonable. That better be some small volume, high value commodities it's transporting to make that seem fiscally plausable. A ship this size is reasonable enough, to claim it is a freighter is not. Sound smore like a small personal shuttle.

Define freighter.

It carries cargo. No it is not for the commercial hauling of cargo. It is more like a corporate jet. It carries small numbers of people and cargo for entities that can afford the craft.

I can completely see the corporate role and the military recon role. But labeling this tiny craft as a freighter is akin to calling my truck an interstate bulk commercial carrier. LOL

Honestly this ship is the least interesting to me of this new wave. I will still pick up one, but that is all.
