My gaming group is starting a league to play this summer and our first session is coming up. We are stepping up in points over the summer starting with 35 for the first session. I have narrowed it down to

Soontir Fel - PTL - Stealth

Horton Salm - R5-K6 - PT - PT

I just can't decide which is better. They are on opposite ends of the spectrum!

while fel is good you risk lossing him to 1 round of unlucky shooting,

with salem I would definetly say get an ion cannon turret on him, just to counter the chance of being out manouvered.

do you want a consistant list with salem or a puncher with a bit of fragility?

I would suggest gold sqd engine upgrade, 2x proton torp and ion cannon…. this gives you some added manouverability on the y-wing when needed the 360 arc and still packs double torp for falcons and slaves… alternatively, drop engine upgrade make yourself grey and take the r5-k6…

both of those 2 suggestions are 35pts.

I like Horton. R5-K6 isn't a droid I would tend to pick with him but with such low point totals you have a good chance of fighting in one on ones so it very well might be worth it with those double torps. I don't thing ion is a must have with this format, just be careful, clever, and look for the right time to k-turn. With two torps and horton's rerolls you should be able to wipe out most ships within 2-3 attacks.

Vonpenguin…you basically described my tactic with my build.

Of course a 2 TIE build is nasty.
