Adventure Packs - Best Setup?

By EnjoyRC, in Strategy and deck-building

As of today, I have each and every Expansion and Adventure Pack. I have managed to keep the Core Set, Expansions and Adventure Packs separate. I'm familiar with choosing your cards from multiple packs to make an outstanding player deck. But… my question is;

When browsing through the cards in an Adventure Pack, I see cards that apply to and rely on other cards in that AP. Like Allies, Attachments, etc… I know the quest card shows what Encounter Decks are to be included. May include other decks that have not come with the AP. Example "The Dead Marshes" requires all of the Encounter cards that came with the AP and 2 from the Core Set.

If I want to play an Adventure Pack quest, should I use all the player cards that came in that AP?

if i understand you correctly, then the answer is no- there is no benefit (and certainly not rule) from using all cards in a specific encounter deck for that quest

it may be that some cards correspond to a great way to tacklet the AP quest, but i dont think that there is anything to be gained from doing this with all of them

How do you determine when to use the player cards that came with the AP? I'm sure there are some that require them.

No - not really. The player cards in the APs work sort of on a 'cycle' basis. so you may get card X in pack 1, and then card Y in pack 5 which works really great with card X

…however, there is no cases where you look at an AP and think- card X really is meant to work with this quest…most player cards in an AP are designed to be

1. thematic to the cycle (i.e. gondor in against the shadow)

2. relavent to the required difficulty

but there really isnt any correspondance between AP quests and the player cards in that AP

part of the fun is coming up with new fun ways to use old cards…therefore a player card in a AP about 6 months ago may be a great advantage in a quest now due to a new way to combine new and old cards.

hope that helps
