Looking for East Tennessee area players

By dbmeboy, in X-Wing Organized Play

I will be moving to Johnson City, TN in a few weeks for work and am hoping to find some people to play this game and/or SWLCG with in the area. Is anyone here from Johnson City or somewhere else nearby? I think the closest bigger city is Asheville at about an hour away.

Welcome to East Tenn.

I live in Kingsport, part of the Tri-Cities w/ Johnson City and Bristol. We have an awesome game shop in Kingsport called Dewaynes's World. A large gaming group of various games. We've got about 6 or so of that group slowly getting into X-Wing and just had our Regional back in April, had 9 total players. I think they play casual SWLCG as well although Game of Thrones is their big focus ( I'm planning on getting into one of those myself with them). You should def. check out the store, I would love to get a game with you sometime there. More importantly, Jonathan, who was our TO for the Regional, is planning on starting a monthly (or close to it) X-Wing tournament at the store sometime after Gencon so X-Wing will be growing there in the coming months.

Excellent! I had searched through the SWLCG regionals without finding any near Johnson City, but hadn't looked through the X-Wing regionals yet. I will definitely have to check it out after we move down.

Also forgot to mention, Jonathan Benton, our TO, was an official play tester for SWLCG, his name is in the rule book.

That's certainly nifty. I've "liked" the store's location page on facebook so that I don't forget to check it out next month, but I couldn't actually find a full facebook page. Does one exist?

Don't think so, it's one area that the store does need to get better at, online presence. I know that the gaming group meets outside of the store a lot too, for gaming nights at host homes, etc. I'm just now getting involved myself, X-wing pulled me in (I won our Regional) and I'm probably going to start Game of Thrones with them in the next month. Would also love to play SWLCG but not sure if my gaming budget can handle that much, lol.

I understand. That's one of the main things that's kept me from picking up Netrunner too.

Sorry to resurrect the post, but I'm planning on being at Dwayne's World for a few hours early this afternoon. I'll have my X-Wing stuff as well as a couple of SWLCG decks. Hopefully I can meet some peoples.

Hey, sorry I missed you. Been out of town this week. Did you manage to get in any games. I know that it was Regionals day for Game of Thrones today so it was probably pretty packed. Anywho, this summer is crazy busy buy I look forward to hopefully getting some games with you soon at Dewaynes. I'm getting into SWLCG (already play X-Wing) so we're going to have a good meta soon. Starting league play this fall for it, X-Wing and Thrones.

I didn't manage to get any games in due to the insanity of the AGoT regional tournament, but I did get to meet some people which is a start for moving to the area. I'll have to try again sometime, but I can tell you know that schedule is going to be a problem for me with a game store that closes at 6pm every day. That will mean that events have to start fairly early to be done in time and my work schedule isn't likely to have me free early enough often. Weekend, late afternoon is going to be my best bet.
