i just got an alice and flounder card and for there magic lever is has a hyphen what does that mean?

As of now, nothing. It just means that card has no Magic Value

i think it means that the friend cannot have its magic value raised

i think it actually means you have to have someone other then them on the filed to cast magic, as in thinkerbell lvl 0 can be cast by anyone who has a magic value, but if they have the - they are unable to cast it. but in reality your player card already has 0 or a 1 magic value so it really dosn;t matter at this point.
