some pilot skill ships moving into each other

By DarkGuard, in X-Wing Rules Questions

i am still getting used to the game so i dont co-ordintate my ships very well atm =P

i had two academy pilots and i moved them into each other, so how does this work?

A. move 1 ship then apply the action. then move seond ship it hits and it gets no action

B. move both ships then when you apply action both ships get no action because they are touching

You are correct with A.

A is correct. Pilots at the same skill on the same side move in the order the owner decides. They fully complete their movement (and action) before the next pilot begins. Thus, the first pilot moves just fine and gets to perform an action. The second pilot moves and overlaps, and thus suffers the effects of overlapping.

thank you for clarifying =D

What if you deliberately chose movement order knowing it would mean a collision with your own ships? Accepting that this would mean a loss of action phase.

Happens not infrequently, particularly with Large ships. Just this past weekend, a friend surprised me by cutting his own Y-Wings in front of Han Solo to keep him from getting tangled up in my TIE swarm.
