Is Preorder required for Wave 3?

By jedi moose, in X-Wing

By required i mean will there be many ships available to people who don't preorder? I've already put my order in, but i have a friend who hasn't and likely won't do a preorder. We got into the game just after Wave 2 release so I don't know what a release day is like with this game. Will there be stock for sale (online, i don't have many LGS here) to those who didn't preorder? How long will said stock last? Hours, days, weeks? Just wondering what your experience was with wave 2 and if it is expected to be the same for wave 3.

In addition, Miniature Market seems to keep raising their preorder "stock" as it reaches low numbers. I know there is at least one guy on these forums who works for them, so i was wondering why that is? At what point will the preorder be sold out? Or will MM and other stores be able to keep requesting more ships as we get closer to release?

I pre-ordered Wave 2 from Mini Market.

I think they keep raising the number because they put in a new order for a case when their numbers run out. If they hit a limit on what they can order, then I imagine pre-orders might hit an out of stock state.

When stock finally arrives, pre-orders are shipped out first, and it took them a few days to get Wave 2 out the door. So if you wait until they get their stock in, you might end up last in line to get your ships.

When Wave 2 came into stock, Mini Market did have a week's worth or so of stock to sell to people who didn't pre-order. I think they received even more shipment after that to sell. So I'm guessing there will be stock beyond the pre-orders. If you really want to be sure to get ships as soon as possible, though, I would pre-order. I plan to.

I got my order in as soon as they appeared on my preferred stores website. If you intend on getting them anyway it's nothing major and you avoid the hassle of having to track down a seller on websites you usually don't buy from. Obviously this is different when talking about brick and mortar stores :)

Nothing is necessary, but it is quite possible that there will be a "dry" spell for Wave 3 availability, like the current situation. The demand for this great game just keeps on going up.

As to why we add stock to the preorders: we only add product in confirmed batches. This means that as the release date gets closer and closer, we will only put out amounts that we have been assured (so in case there is a temporary shortage in supply from FFG, our preorder customers should be guaranteed their ships).

That's about the answer I was expecting/looking for. Thanks a bunch
