Resolving Tactics Icons

By chiller087, in Star Wars: The Card Game - Rules Questions

Ok, kinda splitting hairs here, but it might be important someday:

For example, let's say Yoda has 6 Unit damage he can split between 3 targets, thanks to Shii-Cho training. So when Yoda shoots, the LS player can't meter out the damage 1 at a time, in case the DS player has a Protector out. The LS player basically has to say something like: "I'll do 3 damage to unit A, 2 damage to unit B, and 1 damage to unit C."

So what about Tactics icons? I'm assuming it's the same, but is it? Say my opponent strikes with Palpatine, who's got 3 tactics icons to dish out. I've got several units, and 2 have shields. Can he put 1 tactics icon on my shielded unit, wait to see if I blow the shield or not, and then put another on the same unit depending on my decision? Or can I wait until all tactics icons have been applied, and then decide if I'll absorb it with a shield?

Admittedly I'm having trouble thinking of a real scenario where this would matter, but you never know, and I'm curious about the exact rules regarding this.

isn't resloving all combat icons on a card a simultaneous effect of striking

so in actual fact your tactic icons are happening at the same time as your unit damage icons and objective damage icons but as to avoid confusion and for game mechanics you choose one at a time and say where it's going

Nope, you resolve each combat icon type one at a time in the order of the striking player's choosing.

For the original question, Tactics works like unit damage, you say where you're assigning them and then they all get placed at once.

And somebody (not me) just posted an official response to this on cardgamedb confirming our response. All are assigned and dealt simultaneously.
