what is the best 100pt vader build uv seen?

By The_Brown_Bomber, in X-Wing

Vader VI EU ATC

5x Obsidian.

It's a nice squad. Veteran Instincts on Vader does make a hell of a difference when combined with his nasty stressless boost/barrel roll options, and one thing I've learned with my games is that TIE swarms eat twin laser turrets alive. Six TIE fighters should be able to focus down a Y-wing before it can shoot.

You've got the block firepower for Y-wings and non-boosting big ships, the blockers for boosting big ships and phantoms, and the nightmare of an ace for solo dogfights.

I'll have to try this myself.

Vader, ATC, VI, EU, TITLE

Soontir, Stealth Device, AT, Push The Limit, Title

Omicron Group Pilot, Palpatine.

I'm glad the thread was necro'd instead of creating a new one. Thank you for that.

On topic, Jehovah Netto's list is becoming Tier 1, with variants for flavor.

Vader/Fel/Palpmobile is definitely a top squad, especially when flown well.
Vader/Whisper/Palpmobile is another to consider, for those that fly Whisper well.

Lists like these are definitely in contention for winning worlds this year.

I currently run (and enjoy very much thank you!)

Vader; VI, EU, ATC

Soontir Fel: PTL, AT, TIE (!)

Night Beast; TIE

Zeta sqd pilot

NB with twin ion engine has 6 green maneuvers resulting in focus+evade more often than not. Vader shoudl have focus and evade too, just grabbing a tl in a 'safe' turn. Fel is even worse with 3 banks as legal greens.

The Zeta I play very carefully initially. But is remarkably resilient for the points. And has a very nifty dial.

I might try Backstabber over the Zeta but I really, really want to fly new ships.

Cultist of the new. :)

Mine is similar to Gecko's but I use Vader Maarek Omicron.

VI on maarek. Vader tends to vary. Sometimes rather than VI calculation on both.

I believe i'd be better served with a phantom rather than maarek, but.... A shuttle escorted by two elite TIE Advanced. Thematic and epic.

It's very reliable indeed. And still flexible with minor changes.

You can go super aggressive:

Vader, Pretador, ATC, EU

Soontir, Targeting Computer, AT, Push the Limit.

A more tactical approach:

Vader, VI/Crackshot, ATC, EU

Lastly, I am looking forward to the Tractor Beam mechanics to maybe add one to the OGP...

I've been running:

Vader

-Predator

-EU

-Title

-ATC

Tempest Squadron Pilot

-Title

-Accuracy Corrector (x3)

List is super fun to play, but I've only flown it a few times. Could use a little advice on tactics/flight plans. I usually fly the three Tempests in a formation with Vader at one edge of the board flying around doing his own thing. The list can pump out some damage and focus fire down a ship really well.

Palpmobile & double Ace is a phenomenally good list, fun to play and versatile.

You can pretty much pick and choose from the Empire's top aces to support the Emperor and guarantee it will be tough to take down and effective. Vader, Juno, Stele, Fel, Jax, Whisper, Vessery, Rexler... or even ditch one of the Aces and take two named TIEs.

Vader and Fel are probably the most effective candidates due to their action economy and damage output.

The Emperor supporting Vader & Juno as Procket delivery systems is hilarious to watch. I've seen those three combine to take down an IG-2000 in one round of shooting, terrifying.

It's running off-topic, but the "aces" I like right now are actually the usual Soontir + PTL + AT + SD and Shadow Squadron + Sensor Jammer + ACD. Enemy ships just... melt, unless I screw up.

It's amazing how things can change if you just play with different circumstances. Friday I played the first scenario of the Evacuation of Hoth, and my opponent had a list with Soontir and Kenkirk/Palpatine. His list was just totally inadequate for the scenario, I could send a VI Green squadron pilot to control the mines and stress the two enemies to kingdom come (Stress Wes, Jam action...with a Comms Booster to help out).

Have not officially run it yet (planning to at the store on Friday), but I like this fairly standard-feeling build:

"To the Nines"

Vader - ATC - EU - Title

Fel - PTL - SD - AT - Title

Phennir - VI - SD - AT - Title

I'm tempted to drop SD for a Targeting Computer on Fel. This both gives him some more offensive capabilities AND leaves me with a 99 point list, which is a bit more thematic. But I haven't decided yet. Could potentially do the same for Phennir, especially with his advanced arc-dodging...

Anyone see anything problematic above?

NECROOOOO. By that tim guy with 3 post.

NECROOOOO. By that tim guy with 3 post.

It's a weird universal truth that any and all threads necroed will be risen by a poster with only a few posts.

I used to think that maybe this was because said forum noob was new to the Internet in general.

But is anyone new to t'interwebz in 2015?

It's a mystery I tell you.

It is possible that with the new waves, new ships and new upgrade cards this is still a good question. Unless of course the same build from over a year ago is still the best.

^Honestly, if this topic wasn't going to be made, I was thinking about it.

After seeing it, decided to ask after YT-2400s instead.

Well, I've haven't seen this list out there so I thought I'd post. I was aiming for something thematically Star Wars but also pretty good in a fight.

Howlrunner leads a phalanx of the three offensively powered TIE Fighters which can all break rank, if needed, and still do damage on their own.

Vader is a flanker but can also provide support to the team with Squad Leader when he zips by.

Vader, EU, X1, AC

Fel, AT & PTL

Omega Ace, PTL.

Was quite a fun arc dodging list I used the other day. There was at least a couple of other cards but can't remember them.

Vader

EU

ATC

TITLE

PREDATOR

WHISPER

VI

IA

FCS

ACD

Col Colzet

AC

TITLE

It is awesome and fun. 3 for 3 so far but have yet to face 4 tlt build.

Soontir + Targetting computer + title + auto thrusters + push the limit

Vader + EU + title + ATC + predator

OGP shuttle + palp

Also:

Rear Admiral Chiraneau + predator + gunner + isard + rebel captive + engine upgrade

Vader + VI + title + ATC + engine upgrade

If Vader's costing you 100, you're over-building the ship.

I had this thought too given the syntax of the original post, but I think you can't make Vader cost more than 43 points.

Unless he's Vader Crew, which could still pull it off.

I tried.

squadron details 79 points
Rear Admiral Chiraneau (79) VT-49 Decimator (46),
Expose (4),
Proton Bombs (5),
Darth Vader (3),
Gunner (5),
Ysanne Isard (4),
Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6),

Engine Upgrade (4)
I failed (to reach 100)

Can only get the Gozanti up to 76 points also :(

Edit: I can't math, nothing to see here.

It's not Vader, but is there any chance an Advanced mini-swarm would be effective?

"Advanced Warfare"

4x TIE Advanced - Tempest Squadron Pilot

-Title

-ATC

-Stealth Device

I suppose you could swap the ATC & SD with other things, depending on your preference, but I like the concept of a list that is hard to hit and can't (completely) miss.

Thoughts on this quick and ugly little list?

Might be better with Accuracy Correctors over the Advanced Targeting Computer. Then you can save all your actions for defence and make the list really tanky.

That said, both options are nasty... guaranteeing two hits without needing modifiers with Accuracy Corrector, and adding a crit via the ATC.
