How does the timing work on him? Does the opponents attachment ever take effect? For example, playing Bastard http://www.cardgamedb.com/index.php/GoTCards.html/_/lions-of-the-rock/bastard-lotr on a Maester with several chain attachements on it, can you "save" the chain attachements from beeing discarded since when you trigger Scurvy's response "Bastard" also becomes murribund to be discarded (morribund to go to discard pile) and it leaves play?? So can the Chain Attachements on the Maester be "saved' this way?? Thank you in advance!!

Scurvy cuthroat can't save those attachments.

He can only respond to the attachment being put into play, not save/cancel it being put into play. By the time he's discarded bastard, all the chains are moribund.
