Regionals coming up - DS Sith or Navy?

By theredviper, in Star Wars: The Card Game - Strategy

With the new chapter pack I'm not sure what DS deck I want to take into my quickly approaching local regionals. My choices are:

Sith Control

2 x Vader

2 x Palpatine

1 x Council of the Sith (for support)

2 x Killing Cold

1 x Shadows on the Ice

1 x Cruel Int

1 x Imp Command (for resources/support)

vs. Navy Capital Ship beatdown

2 x Death & Despayre

2 x Endor Gambit

2 x Deploy the Fleet

2 x Imp Command

2 x mix of Kuat Reinforcements and/or Defense Protocol

I've had some great results early with the Capital Ships. They crush objectives like nobody's business, and have plenty of ways to get them out early.

Any thoughts? What are you guys seeing?

Why not the best of both ?

Big Red Bus (deck name credit to Ketricel on CGDB, love the name)

Vader x2, Emperor x2, Devastator x2, Counsel of the Sith x2, Imperial Command x1, Deploy the Fleet x1.

I'll have to check that out, not sure there's enough resources in there.

Was used to win regionals in SC on Sunday. I'm testing it out this week.

4x Sith Library

2x Control Room

2x Advisor to the Emperor

1x Admiral Motti

1x Duty Officer

1x Fleet Navigator

1x Death Squadron Command

I think you'll be okay on resources. =P

Agreed, I'd be more concerned about lackluster starts.

I'm still having luck with pure Sith. I think that DS has expanded options now, but some of the previous strong decks remain strong.

I agree 100%. This speaks to the balance the game gets from the card pods. Really, the "Big Red Bus" deck is just what a lot of people played in Core (2xFall/Web/Counsel/Despayre/Command) with a slight twist for the new Star Destroyers. I wouldnt necessarily say that the addition makes it better, just different.

Its really more about how you play it and what synergies the deck has, not so much about finding some "optimum build".

It's always about finding an optimal build.

To the OP: Whatever you do, play Kuat twice for the same reason rebels play Yavin twice. It's what makes the deck works, it's what gives you the crazy starts, it's what allows you to surprise opponent with Backstabber.

The rest is up top you, I myself prefer the Black Squadron, but Kuat is the basis of everything. It's number one on priority list of which objectives to take.

Deck works extremely well. It has the Sith control elements and the Navy aggro. I used it last night to win our game night and take home the prizes. It's a great deck. I don't have Imperial Command in mine however, I use The Killing Cold instead for Jedi control element. If you play in a mostly Rebel area might want to try out Shadows on the Ice for the Wampas who are great at knocking out Rebel units with their two unit damage.

Just wondering if anyone has tried two Deploy the Fleets instead of either Motti or Icetrompers? It's got the extra resources, and it can speed up your tempo a lot. I was wanting to try it out, but being that the next regional is on Saturday I doubt I'll have as much time to try it out as I'd like.

1st Question = What are you the most comphortable with? play that deck.

2nd = How will that deck deal with Rebel Swarm? how will it deal with Hoth Opporations/Prep for Battle?

3rd = How will the deck deal with Jedi Control? Can it handle han solo?

I love getting off to a great start with my decks, throwing resources down and blazing off. The alternative in resource heavy decks is some times you get alot of resources when you need those chuds. I stoped playing navy due to prep for battle I found it was easy for rebel oponents to control the force early game with the new speeders and if they keep the dial moving slow its just awful.

Then again, if your comphy with Navy play them, what you know and have practiced the combos for will always be better then some new deck you dont know. You gotta know, alright i need to discard these cards in the edge to hopefully get X, Y, or Z. If you dont know what you want youll just loose.
