A Dark Time

By jonmierow, in Star Wars: The Card Game

Things this pod has me excited about. 1. Probe droids in Imperial vader pod now have a purpose. 2. Night Sisters could set up attacks 3. Backstabber can be used to set "bait" attacks up into devastating explosions.

Same with the second Death Star orbiting Despayre, the planet that the first Death Star destroyed,

What makes you think that it is not just the first Death Star under construction before it was completed and tested on Despayre ?

I just heard from my FLGS that it's not shipping this week. Has anyone heard otherwise yet?

The FFG Event Center here in MN said they would have A Dark Time on Wednesday. Now this was last Friday that I sopke to them. The Event Center release it the day that distributors can release it. So, I guess it would depend on your shops distributor.

bingo, that's exactly what it is

I thought we've been through this before. According to the end of Revenge of the Sith, the first Death Star had the entire spherical framework complete before the exterior was finished, so you would not expect to see the characterstic missing chunks of the second Death Star orbiting Despayre. At least, that's how I see it. An argument could be made that the missing sections are on the far side of the Death Star in Episode III, so one cannot say for sure whether the framework is completed or not. I still think it's complete.

To confirm what Tiny heard, my LGS said the distributors wont be shipping it till Wednesday so it wont be in stores until Friday, maybe Thursday.

There will be 8 regionals this weekend. I suspect a winner will be the one that figures out how to use the new pods to their advantage.

If I had a regional this weekend I would be playing Aggro Sith.

Use the Emperor to lockdown units and just get in unopposed damage with Moorsh Moraine. The Moorsh Morain makes a lot of the little chuds in the Sith very dangerous and the LS will need to respect that.

We havent seen anything for the LS yet except for the Smuggler objective. It would not surprise me if that found its way into a Hoth heavy Rebel deck. It will punish the DS for playing Hoth objectives and punish them for destroying Hoth objectives. I suspect some Devastators and Emperors will get bounced.

We have indeed been through this before, and I didn't want to rehash it. But in addition to your point about Revenge of the Sith, all versions of The Force Unleashed clearly establish the under-construction Death Star as not looking anything like its replacement as seen in Return of the Jedi. This is simply a mistake, but one that could be easily fixed for future printings if FFG wants to (and considers it a worthwhile fix).

Pretty sure a force pack has to be out in that region for 2 weeks before it is legal for regionals. Read it somewhere in the comp rules.

Ps looks like hoth to me. Only see blue and white.

Nope, legal the day they are released. Its in the tournament rules. We used Prep for Battle the weekend it was released at the end of April.

No idea where you read that as it is not in the tourney rules, here is the relevant section. Tourney rules page 6:

All Star Wars organized play events use the following sets of authorized cards. In North America, all cards are tournament legal upon that packs release. Regionals competitors outside North America should check with their TO to determine which cards are tournament legal.

Star Wars: The Card Game Core Set The Hoth Cycle Force Pack Expansion Set (The Desolation of Hoth (March 2013), The Search for Skywalker (April 2013), A Dark Time…(May 2013),

Yeah sorry that was something put into place by my local TO in Australia. The packs usually get here a few weeks late.

According to my buddy who owns the game store "A Dark Time" is at the warehouse and going out tomorrow. I should probably have mine tomorrow since I live in Madison where the distributer is located.

Spoke with the owner @ tower he has A dark time in the back of his car. today to go up.

Dang! I'm already home, otherwise I would have stopped in to pick up a pack on the way. Guess I'll have to hope there's one left at TG tomorrow afternoon!

Same with me, just left the area less then an hour ago, was only a mile or so away working. Ill just have to get it tomorrow at FFG.

Got it. Played about 20 games tonight with the new objectives.

First impressions:

Sith = meh

Jedi = ok

S&V = meh (for now)

Navy = decent

S&S = meh (for now)

Sorry if there's any confusion. I didn't see these were posted on The Smuggler's Den. I received mine from a source in an email at 9:30PM last night. Sorry if the same source put them on the Smuggler's Den as well - didn't tell me that they were going to do that and said "Here's the spoilers man. Hope this gets you guys a lot of traffic!"

Edit: Ok, it seems that Smugglers Den gave them these spoilers. But anyway, he should get the credits.

To save those that don't have Facebook or wish to click multiple links here are the scans of the new sets.

Source for the following images is Smugglers Den Facebook page. Thanks to them for getting scans up so fast literally overnight for most of us.

I am extremely torn on most of these sets. The Imperial pod is obviously pretty good, but mostly because of the objective/Starck. All the other pods feel awkward currently. I was really hoping to go mostly smugglers but Han's pod feels kinda wonky with the other two, especially since he really needs some Protect:Character around to help. The Scum pod seems decent too, but I forsee decks based on it that dont splash Navy (and likely even those that do) will have resource issues. The Sith pod looks pretty good, but I dont think it really fits in very well yet since it is not a hoth objective, and its hard to displace Fall/Web/Counsel and I don't think it really adds much to those three. The Jedi Pod is really interesting, but again, you have tough decisions to make about what pod(s) to cut for it, even if you already have been going straight Jedi. The enhancement is particularly nice.

I dunno. Id bet we'll see a lot of the Imperial pod, but not much else will be used regularly until some more stuff comes out to further their themes. Am I wrong?.
