Game night with some friends

First, a disclaimer: I'm a big fan of this game, and I've been coming to the forums to read about battles and rules questions since FFG announced X-Wing. However, my life has been so overscheduled that I haven't had a chance to play until last Friday (!). Yes, I know. That's weird. My friends put on a game night, and we had a ball. We sort of played "Wings of War" style, where everyone controlled a fighter. Also, due to the experience of one of our players, we gave the rebels a five point advantage in each game.

The first battle was Wedge and a Red Squadron Pilot against Vader and two regular TIEs. That didn't last long. I think the rebels scored maybe two hits against the Empire before they were annihilated. Lesson learned - don't divide your firepower.

Second battle was Wedge, Garven Dreis and Dutch versus Marek Steele and a mix of generic TIEs. This time, the Imperials were very spread out, and we kept the Rebels within 1 of each other. And this time, The Imperials were annihilated with no rebel losses. Lessons learned - Ion Cannon are very effective, and concentrating your firepower is critical to success.

I look forward to learning more lessons.
