Product availability

By Boris_the_Dwarf, in X-Wing

So I am just now learning about this game and am interested in picking it up, but an exhaustive search has turned up next to nothing in the way of individual ships for sale. I'm certainly not interested in getting into a game that offers no product, or at an expensive pricepoint via sites like ebay. Even FFG doesn't have stock according to their products page.

Does anyone know if they are going to restock basic ships? Thanks in advance!

I believe that the TIE fighter and X-Wing expansions are currently being printed right now - from what I understand, they are supposed to be available in North America in the next month or so.

Just as a point of note, if you are interested in picking up the game, I'd recommend getting two base sets to build a foundation around. Then add one X-Wing expansion, one TIE fighter expansion, and the rest of the ships to taste (unless you are only going to go with one faction or the other).

Anyways, the game is a blast to play - well worth the investment.

Good to see you come to the playground. ;) Check Target for Core sets if you can't find them at your LGS. Barnes and Noble also has the Expansion packs. Also check the usual online retailers as well. Hope to see you at Gencon this year! :)

Maybe try Amazon.com?

I just got into the game about a month ago and between Amazon and my local game shops I've had no trouble acquiring anything.

I looked on Amazon this afternoon and it seemed possible to buy the core set plus every expansion except the X-Wing and get it shipped to your house within a couple of days.

I'd recommend sticking with the core set for a while, though, just to learn the rules.

FFG are reprinting pretty much everything so I'm sure stock will improve.

Having a 2nd Core set is a great way to expand. As to getting the other pilot cards, all of the online and Army Builder Squadron Builders have all of the pilots, upgrades, and stats. You can often print them out with the card images and/or just the rules. Not legal in FFG tournaments, but for friendly or local store play I wouldn't see any issues (since the actual expansions are out of stock!).

Here are my 2 favorite Squadron builders:

And Jason Fullers (mouse hover over card names to see the actual cards)
