How do you? Do you bring some Advances and Interceptors? Or some regulat TIES with better pilots? Or a mix of anything?
How do you play the Imps without a TIE Swarm?
Three Bounty Hunters in Firesprays.
Or Krassis, Vader and Howlrunner.
Basically, you need at least one Firespray.
I disagree on needing a firespray, I have two 4-ship IMP builds I am a big fan of:
Vader
Mauler Mithel + Vet Instincts
Soontir Fel
Turr Phennir + Vet Instincts
^ 4 Pilot Skill 9 fighters, move at the same time, shoot at the same time.
Howlrunner
Mauler Mithel + Expose
Soontier Fel + PTL + Stealth
Turr Phennir + Stealth
^ 2 hard-to-hit interceptors, with Mauler firing 5 attack dice at range 1 (as long as you Expose) and Howlrunner doing what she does best. One of my favs.
The half beard is correct. four ship builds can work with interceptors, even one interceptor and one advanced. Or a three ship build with Vader, Soontir, and Thurr, if you're cagey.
Could it work with an Advanced, an Interceptor, and 2 regular Ties?
I've run Vader, Thur, Howlrunner, and Mauler Mithel with good results. Marksmanship and clusters on Vader.

You are wrong, the Firespray isn't bad but there are builds without any of them that are at least as good as lists with them.
I saw a list with 2 named Interceptors and 3 named Tie Fighters only yesterday. It was very nice with lots of firepower since it implied Backstabber, Mithel and Night Beast as the Tie Fighters. Okay i still won with my double falcon list, but they had blasted away Chewbacca by turn 3, that was very impressive, and i was very lucky to still win the game (thanks to Han the man). And it might as well have gone the other way very fast…
There are lots of valid Imperial lists at the moment. In wave 1 a lot of people played swarms since they dominated Rebels but even then more elite imperial builds could best swarms easily.
Some lists (not in detail) i have played to great effect:
One named Firespray and 4 TIE/Ln
One named Firespray, Howlrunner and 2 cheap interceptors.
4 Interceptors, both with 2 named pilots and 2 generic, or with generic pilots with a lot of options.
2 named Interceptors, 3 named Ties
Vader, Howlrunner and 4 Academies (oldschool but still nice)
All the Named TIE/Ln in one list (funnily its exactly 99 points for all 6)
Vader, Fel, Phennir with toys (i named the list "Order 999" since one of my options was Veteran instincts on Phennir for an all 9 skill list)
I could go on forever, Imperials still have a lot of very efficient lists, and still a lot more pilot options than the Rebels, they just struggle against Han shoots first or double Falcon a bit. They are far from unbeatable though.
Edit: i absolutely love that colonial Viper you have as your picture though…
