Once they worked out that the body snatchers came from the Alms House, my players have pressed their advantage and broken in that same night. Sybas Moran is at the Enforcer Station, as they have started to realize that something is awry. I was thinking about having a copy of In Defence of the Future: A Logical Discourse locked in Moran's bedside cabinet. Is this too obvious? The Logicians will become involved again in the overall campaign, so I'm not sure whether it would be better to leave them as a more mysterious force for now.
These are the scenarios I am running, in order:
'Edge of Darkness'
‘Rejoice for You are True!’
Damned Cities
‘Shades of Twilight’
Tattered Fates
'House of Dust and Ash'
Dead Stars
The next session is this Saturday.
How to highlight the Logicians' involvement in Edge of Darkness
It is not too obvious. It is just right and I placed this pamphlet there as well. Otherwise they won't get the link to the Logicians at all. Even with the book, you need Forbidden Lore (Cults) or (Heresy) to link it to the Logicians besides even knowning of the Logicians anyway. I think they will still be rather mysterious.
Regarding the list of scenarios you are running (I had a similiar list but including Illumination and Baron Hopes), you could consider substituting the Serrated Query with the Logicians throughout all scenarios. They are rather similiar anyway and almost too similiar to use both in my opinion. Logicians are also far cooler in my opinion…
Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately, having not seen this post in time, I decided to err on the side of caution and not include the book or extracts in Moran's desk. The final encounter was really tense, as two of the players failed their fear tests in the presence of the Churgeon at work: one passed out for five rounds and another fell to the floor vomiting for two. This will hopefully encourage them to be more cautious in future.
Your suggestion to replace the Serrated Query with the Logicians is an excellent one and will make far more sense as part of the overall arc of the campaign. I'll have Theodosia wear black robes with cog-tooth red trim when he is not in the Alabaster Court and place a copy of In Defence of the Future: A Logical Discourse in the lab on Ambulon.
Given the emphasis of tech heresy in these scenarios, I've decided to run my Inquisitor as a Xanthite who believes that the power of the warp is the best way to foil what is increasingly looking like a major threat to the Calixis Sector. I'm going to see whether he can lead the telepath to become a tainted psyker.
Having thought about running an RPG campaign for years, I'm really enjoying myself. The support from this forum has been a big help in making the shift from player to GM.
