Rage + Aim / Aim + Quickcasting

By ShiroTheSniper, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi!

I'm a Overload and this was a question we debated for a long time without having a real answer...

As an Overload, when I play "Rage" + "Aim" cards on the same monster (Rage is enabled when a monster is activated and Aim is before an attack), does I get the Aim ability over my 2 attacks or just on the first one?

Does It work the same way for Aim + Quickcasting skill for a hero? Does this hero have the 2 attacks aimed?

Thanks alot!

No, Aim only works for the 'next attack'. So, only the first attack after the Aim is played (placed for Heroes).

That's almost correct.

The triggering condition for the overlord's Aim card is when a monster declares an attack but before you roll the dice. So you don't play an Aim card at the start of the turn to affect the monster's "next attack," you play it while an attack is in progress to affect the current attack. There is no period that the Aim card is sitting on the table waiting to be executed.

For a hero, you place an Aim order in advance of actually making the aimed attack, but you can choose for each attack whether you want to use the order. So in the case of Quick Casting, you could choose to discard the Aim order to make the first attack an aimed attack, or you could wait until the second attack and then discard the Aim order to make that the aimed attack. Or you could make both attacks unaimed and keep the Aim order around for some future occasion (though it's removed if you move, suffer wounds, or change equipment).

But it's true in either case that the Aim is only good for a single attack, even if you make several attacks in succession.

Though considering how weak the Aim order is, allowing heroes to make multiple aimed attacks with a single order might be a reasonable house rule...
