By hashrat, in Dust Tactics General Discussion

Hey folks.

Just got around to placing my order for the revised starter set, a command squad (the boss) a BBQ squad, a Kommandtroope (sp?) and laser grenadier squad.

Just curious as to how big a deal a few points difference is in this game (not calculated the starter sets contents) but there is a 3 point difference in the forces I purchased with it.

Some games like FoW 5 points makes no difference, some like WFB etc, those 5 points can mean the difference between a 100 point suit of armour and settling for a 80 point one to stay in your limit.

Is it a big issue in Dust?

Guess I will grab 2 medium mechs once this lot ships. (wich will likely be a decade from now as Wayland as so slow)

I don't see a 3 point difference in two armies as a big issue in DT. Just play your first casual games with two armies that are as close as possible, or if you play scenarios, try to match the point limit as close as possible. If one army is one point below the point limit and the other is two points above it, it won't matter. In competetive play of course you may not have more points in your army than allowed, so you might want to invest in one cheap unit per faction to have a "point filler".

Yep, having a couple of Specialist squads (snipers and observers) is pretty essential for rounding up a list.

Thanks.

Some snipers/observers will be added soon as I can, would like to pick up the expansion with the German Sniper first.

Need some Medium mechs aswell, hopefully the game will be with me tomorrow, can't wait.
