Journey Down the Anduin for newbies-Solo (I'm a newbie and used ot succesfully)

By Nickpes, in Strategy and deck-building

I propose the deck for new players who only have core set. Offcourse there must be much better options but it worked for me on my first attempt to play Down the River Anduin Solo (previous attempts were two players and failed all three of them)

I used Aragorn, Theodred and Eowyn

My plan was to use Theodred to boost Eowyns resources and Aragorn as an all around.

The main cards I picked and used are the following

From Spirit deck I got the "test of will", "Hasty Stroke", "Lorien guide" , "Northern Tracker", "Galadhrims Greeting", "Will of West"

From the Leadership all the "Celebrian's Stone", "Steward of Gondor", "for Gondor, "faramir", "guard of the citadel" and some of the "Silverlod Archer", "Snowbourn Scout", "Sneak attack", "Son of Arnor", 'Valiant Scrifice"

also two Gandalf cards (luckily used both)

Using Eowyn and the resource she got from Theodred I managed to play Galahdrims Greeting before the Troll attacked me (had it on first hand) and then I had the time to prepare everything. when i attached celebrian stone and steward of gondor to aragorn and draw gandalf everything became easier. i had many resources to use everywhere. Biggest chalenge was when on third stage, one of the last two cards I drew for the enemy was the second troll. I had to sucrifice the two leadership heroes in order to keep my threat mot going over 50 and used eowyn and 5 allies i had in play to kill the troll with threat at 48 and win the game

Since i'm a very unexperienced player but managed to win I believe that it could ba a good deck

I have also used this deck many times vs JDtA. This was my first sucsessful deck against this quest. I highly reccomend it to all players with only a core set. Great deck. :)

Glad to hear. Makes me feel I'm starting to get a good view of the game and how to use cards :)

PS: Till today I thought Theodred a useless card … when I used him and the way he helped me win the game, I understood that there are NO useless cards, at least heroes, it is just a matter of how you plan to use them
