So they decide to delay an announcement lots of people are waiting for. Why? Just to make us wait longer?

Event tonight was kinda mess nothing was starting on time or really well orginized. It kinda sounded like the ships had not arrived yet, they stated they would be showing the coming straight from the factory in China… But they are announcing the new stuff right when the X-wing tourny is supposed to be starting. One slip of information was that all four ships had been named on the net but never all four in the same post.
It actually makes a lot more sense to announce the stuff on Star Wars Day itself, really. Well, glad I'll be there myself ot the 4th, when hopefully the crew has kinda worked the bugs out and things might be running relatively smoothly!
But it IS Star Wars Day here… has been for 12 hours!
Why they don't just show the ppl PICTURES?? There is an revolutionary and amazing invention called a 'beamer' and a not lesser revolutionary invention called 'Powerpoint'. Put this TOGETHER you actually can have a show without showing the minis around …
I mean: What ARE they THINKING??!!
To start off they are having the event in a side area not the actual event center, it is like three doors down in the same complex. They have tables set up, a couple of display cases and a lot of banner stands. There is an area set up for the presentations but no projector just a tower speaker and a mike. It looks nice but I was kinda expecting a more polished appearence. We will see how things go today maybe it will run a bit more smoothly.

Take this as a good sign. They have a plan and aren't changing it because people are complaining. To many companies have ruined good games by caving in to a few. They announced when… Let it be enough.
I think the plan was to reveal on 5/3; if this is correct they did change it. If so, I can see where folks would be a little upset (FFG is not doing what they said and are letting down the fans because of poor planing). Not a big deal, but not ideal, either.
Classic FFG, dropping the ball once again.
If they are aware of how rabid the fanbase for this game is then they should have planned it out a little better.
Could have had a twitch.tv feed setup or something of that nature, they should have done something official to appease the masses that buy their product and crash their website on a weekly basis.
Instead we are forced to rely on players attending the event to relay the info on the cool new ships…missed opportunities left and right.
Just goes to show that while they have good ideas and can put out a quality product on a quasi regular basis they still have a lot to learn as far as keeping the player/fanbase happy.
Whoever their marketing person is for this line/branch needs to be replaced, because they just aren't doing a good job.
Kind of glad Dust is going to BF now, while BF has had it's share of issues in the past and they are starting to get just a touch of GW syndrome I think they will provide a better experience overall than FFG ever could.

FFG please come up with some better GNKs for X-wing, you are totally failing on that front as well.
Maybe they'll announce it after the X-Wing tournament? Wouldn't be fair that the players couldn't see the new ships because they were playing…

i think they are marketing it better than you think
the best form of advertising is word of mouth, so if they let the people do the advertising for them, the buzz gets stupidly insane and leaves us foaming at the mouth rather than them just revealing everything and we sit back with a good amount of excitement instead and forget about it until release date
their form of advertising has been working perfectly for them up until now and people still can't get all of the wave 1 and 2 stuff that they desperately want due to the rediculous demand for this game
why change what's working?
