Because I ride my motorcycle during the summer as much as I can I need a storage system that will fit into a red Echo backpack. Any suggestions?

At first I was sort of put off by the pricing of Battlefoam and the KRMulticase products, I felt that I had already spent enough money. I started using DIY ideas, like the little plastic trays and hardware store organizers.
Kobalt case Lowes $25
Clear plastic organizer tray $10
Put all my do-dads, gimmicks and dice in the organizer tray, had to use a hot knife to cut panels to fit the manuever templates. Still though, not enough room to store all of my bases and ship markers.
I cut down the original plastic packaging for the ships so I can stack them neatly into the Kobalt case(23 ships including Falcon and Slave I) along with the organizer tray.
Four of my ships do not fit now that I found more… The DIY case started out like a good idea, but did not keep up with my needs and cost my time.
I was at Miniature Market's shop picking up a couple minis and asked to look at Tray Set C; it fit the Falcon and Slave I plus ten ships and they had it on-sale for $38.69, figured what the heck. Got it home and was slightly put off by how "deep" these trays were; At an inch and a half Falcon just swims in the KR tray:
That said, now that I have everything set in the KR trays it looks a whole lot nicer and cleaner than my DIY solution, and as expansions are released I am sure they will release additional trays…

Everything I use to transport my minis came from Wal-Mart. The trays with the ships came from hardware and are $12 each, the tray with the tokens and dice came from Sporting Goods and was $4, and the tote came from Housewares and was $10. The tote will hold 4 trays of ships, the token tray, and my binder with rulebook and squad lists.

Bro, that's awesome! Just what I'd be looking for - since I sensibly saved all the original ship packaging shells. I'll be hitting the hideous Wally.

In that thread there are pictures and the model numbers for what I was talking about.
Those are the same one's I use, and… the reason is when I saw your original post I went looking for Plano Boxes with red latches at Walmart and found them. Haha, Thanks a bunch, they work great.
Question,
Does anyone have the plastic that the MF and Firespray came in? I, dumb, very dumb, threw away mine. I only need one each and live in So Florida.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
I use a Plano case. They have larger cases as well. For the foam I went to a fabric store and bought a big sheet of essentially pillow foam.
I bought some foam to do this with too but haven't cut it yet. Is it tough to cut out shapes for the small ships using an exacto knife or do you think your open square holds them good enough? Trying to decide if I want to plunk down the money for a hot wire foam cutter or not.

Here's an external link to my own process of cutting foam with an exacto-knife. It's a bit higher precision than I see here, and the results are good.
I use Battlefoam's Sword Bag, which is made to fit Army Transport/Sabol Design trays. http://us.battlefoam.com/products/18-Large-Model-Foam-Tray-%28SD%29.html <<< This tray is great for holding my small Imperial Ships. I use two of the slots to hold the ships and the third one holds the dials and extra cardboard inserts. I have custom trays that hold my large base ships and another custom tray that holds all of my markers and templates. All five trays fit into the bag perfectly.
KR Multicase stores everything (well, just about everything) nicely for me. However if I'm taking something to a tournament, I'll generally only take what I plan to use - so then I use the box for the Starter Kit & the plastic packs the expansions come in.
Plano 1374 stores both factions with plenty of room for scum
My solution for small ships were these Tactix boxes and custom labels. I sorted and labeled every slot with according pieces, dial, bases, numbers, already attaches in pegs. This shortened the setup time tremendously.
Naturally same with the rebels.
Large / huge ships and rest of stuff are on the different "miscellananous" case.
Just a heads up on the BattleFoam stuff.
BattleFoam started with a "Wave I" set that fit in the original box. However, with "Wave II" arrival they moved to a Wave I/II combo style (the one Jaravak posted.) They do not make, and the response I received via email is that they are not going to make, a Wave specific trays going forward. Personally, that seems short sighted as a customer cannot be expected to toss aside the previous purchase and get the latest Wave I … Wave x combo. IMO, the tendency to scale with the game as it grows does indicate KR is more committed to the game over the long haul.
Also, the BattleFoam pictured provides more pockets for a ship of a given type than can be fielded, if you are using the 100 point tournament rules as the "ceiling" of your collection. For those that do this (I do and I know several others who do so as well) you will find yourself with wasted pockets for which you have no intention or need to fill.
Please note I am not "slamming" BattleFoam, but having been an early adopter of their original "Wave I" tray, I now regret the purchase as the company is not offering as versatile (read: scalable) options as others companies have begun to do.

Except that you left out the fact that they offer custom tray design, so you can make trays that fit your own needs.
