collisions and actions

By KickinAces, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So a few issues came up while I was playing at a game shop.

The large ship bases are exactly the same length as the '2' movement template. The situation was that a slave 1 bounty hunter (ps3) was facing one direction and a falcon (chewie ps5) crashed directly into him facing the other direction. At the start of the next movement phase, can the bounty hunter take a movement of 2 and be touching, not overlapping the falcon? Technically speaking the nubs on the base do not count. Thoughts?

Situation 2 - This one may be a lot easier and maybe I am just missing it in the rules somewhere. A ship, biggs, collides with another ship. Obviously he does not get any action due to overlapping and colliding. Lando takes a green movement and is within range one of biggs. Can biggs take a free action from Lando's ability, even though he crashed. I know if biggs was stressed that he can't, but wasn't sure about collision.

Thanks in advance for thoughts on both issues

1) Per the FAQ, if ships didn't overlap on the move, they are not considered to be touching. So I'd rule that they aren't touching any more in that situation.

2) Lando can still give Biggs the free action. Overlap doesn't prevent actions per se, it just causes that step to be skipped. Actions from outside that step work as normal.

(I apologize for the poor formatting. Typing from my phone and the forums ignore my line breaks).

technically you still won't be able to do it without overlapping anyways, as the small nubs on the ends of the bases where the movement templates rest, give the bases that little extra distance more than 2, so using a 2 manuver will still cause you to overlap the opposing ship and not move at all because of it.. i'd stick to the movement of 3 to get past

as for your second question, yes you can still perform free actions given to you after overlapping an object, you just lose the ability to use your primary action
