Rebel Squadrons thoughts please

By Hock, in X-Wing

I'm playing in the UK Games Expo comp. and have created a couple of squadrons, please give me your thoughts?

Build 1

Han Solo. Shield upgrade, chewbacca, markmanship, millennium falcon

Rookie pilot X2

build 2

Chewbacca. Shield upgrade, veteran instincts, luke skywalker, millennium falcon

Rookie pilot R2 Astromech

Rookie pilot. R5-K6

Any good?

I'm a Han player myself so thought I'd chime in on these. I think the Chewie list is fine, I don't see any glaring issues there. I'm a little conflicted on the Han list though. To me Han is all about the offense because of his ability. Most seem to think that Marksmenship is an auto include with him, however, I don't usually run it. I do run MF for defense. To me the glaring missing component is Gunner. Being able to potientially roll 4 times in a combat round is huge. If you are set on Marksmenship then I would drop Shield Upgrade and MF and add a Gunner. If you want Han to be more defensive then I would drop Marksmenship since it is an action and conflicts with the MF Evade action.

Hope that helps.

Additionally, Falcon + 2 X-wings is probably the most anticipated regionals list - I know I'm practicing against it, as are others near me. On the plus side, the Falcon + 2 X-Wings is a solid list. On the down side, you're probably going to need to play it really well to win, as you're not going to surprise anyone.

Cool cheers for the advise, changed the first build and come up with another

Han Solo Chewbacca, gunner, millennium falcon, elusiveness

Rookie pilot X2

Other build

Luke Skywalker. Stealth device, markmanship, R2 D2

Rookie pilot. R2 Astromech

Rookie pilot

Gold Sqadron pilot R5 Asrtomech

what do you think?

i like wedge in all my squads.

i like to run wedge/swarm + chewie/gunner.draw their fire + rookie pilot

han shoots first list often run determination and/or chewie for shrugging off late game crits that nurf his pilot ability/skill.

when i run straight x-wings i prefer wedge/swarm over luke, he is more offensive but u will need either r2d2/r2f2 or wedge as a wingman if u want him to last very long.

han shoots first is expected but its because its a consistent list. all that firepower is hard to deal with. it performs well versus other rebel lists and everything really that isnt specifically designed to combat it. im still unsure what to take out first, the x-wings or han. it might depend on asteroid placement and how ur first exchange plays out. thats what makes it a hard squad to defeat. i think people that run missiles on Savel1 r thinking of han as the primary target.

I love Push the Limit with the YT-1300. Makes it harder to hit, which is important with its low agility. It's especially good with the Falcon, which can evade. And since facing isn't an issue, it's usually not too tough to choose green maneuvers to get rid of the stress.

My spouse runs this list, but uses Swarm Tactics instead of Elusiveness. Gets one of the x-wings shooting at 9 with Han.

Sometimes she drops Chewie and runs 2 Gold Squadron with ions too.

The primary counter I've been running for the Falcon is lots of missiles, especially homing missiles. If you can land 10+ hits in the first volley against the Falcon you can end up with an advantage against the 2 X-Wings pretty quickly. I'm actually starting to like the Tie Advanced a lot more due to this.

I have been toying with this list vs Han Shoots First.

The Heavy Laser Cannon is basically a reusable missile and Fett should fire first.

Total Squad Points: 100

Pilot: Boba Fett
Firespray-31 (39)
Upgrades:

  • Veteran Instincts (1)
  • Gunner (5)
  • Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Pilot: Krassis Trelix
Firespray-31 (36)
Upgrades:

  • Gunner (5)
  • Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

To answer your initial question, I like yor Chewie list, but I would drop VI and R5-K6 add Marksmanship to Chewie and a standard R2 unit on the Rookie.

Another idea is to run 2 Y-Wings with Ion Cannon's instead of the X-Wings. I personally choose these over X's, but that's just me as I find their utility of disabling the enemy works to my advantage.

i've tried this exact list a couple months ago; a 4 X-wing build will completely destroy it and you don't stand much of a chance against any imperial swarm lists either.. especially ones that include multiple interceptors

2 attacks per round isn't enough firepower against most lists.. just the lists that are mainly focused around large ships
