Greetings all! I run an Only War group who play as Elysian Drop Troops stationed on board a Rogue Trader's ship, the ship's masters being their Rogue Trader characters, my question is this: according to Dark Heresy, a Guardsman earns about 50 thrones a month, my characters asked me if their characters are getting paid, then why can't they spend that money on the market on the ship, I figured why not and let them, using the monetary values given in the DH core rulebook, does anyone see any potentially unbalancing effects this may have on our OW game? if so, what are they?

It may end up that they have permanent access to weapons or armor that are much better than what they would normally be able to aquire. As long as your sticking to the guardsman pay scale though I don't think it will become too much of an issue. It takes a while to save up for anything and they may end up losing it rather quickly through gambling or other means.

If it becomes an issue just have a commisar come down on their hands for having illegal contraband.

I see a different, problem. It's going to take a while to afford things that are better than they are fairly surrounded with but realistically how much would your average Guardsmen (and I realise these aren't average Guardsmen) save when he could be spending it on drink, drugs, gambling and girls (or guys) let alone if they are supposed to support a family back home.
