X & Y Rookies take on the Empire (100 pts)

I am looking to give this a try. On paper, it looks solid, the Y-Wings disabling enemy ships whilst the 'hardened' X-Wings deal some damage.

I am going to test it out this weekend. Any thoughts on viability?

I would get R5' into the Y-Wings. no need to fly k-turns with ion turrets

That was the thinking I was taking as well. R2 or R5 in the Y's. Perhaps we'll start with R5's and see how it goes.

I'd also consider Engine Upgrades on the Ys instead of Shield Upgrades on the Xs. I recently played a game with 3 Ys with Engine Upgrades and I was surprised at how the engine upgrades really changed the feel of the Y Wings. I was using it to scoot around asteroids and help keep some extra defense dice on the Ys.
