Promo Commanders, how do you implement them in your games?

Title says it all really, but here's a more wordy version of my question:

Since there aren't really any official rules on how to use the 6 promo commanders from 2010's Days of Ice and Fire, how do you guys use them?

  • Replace them in a given scenario (for example: Kevan Lannister 'regent' in the first scenario). Would this make the scenario's unbalanced, since the set-up always specifies which version of a commander to use (for the commanders of which there are two versions in the box)?
  • Draft them in skirmish mode, but here the version of the commander is specified on the card as well.
  • Another option I haven't thought of.

Any thoughts you guys have, would be most appreciated!

I've used them in skirmish games. Used the skirmish card to get the rank (color) and then picked what commander card I wanted to use. For our skirmish games, we consider any commander card as an option (Like the Mountain's that can light fire).
