I agree. There is only so much 4 x-wings vs. 5 tie fighters games that are interesting.
I have enlarged the playing field and fielded more ships. Having objectives that you try and defend or attack makes thinbgs more interesting.
B-Wing / Tie Bomber

Hard points would be able to take either a missile upgrade or a torpedo upgrade. It will come boxed with some new type of torpedo and a missile just to mix things up a bit. Special ability: free action: target lock.
So I can fly 3-4 TIE Bombers with double-loads of Homing missiles? With the Free Target lock I can choose Focus to have both shot enhancements, and then re-roll all my misses and any focus results become hits! Better hope the Rebels are great on their dodge rolling or can get to my Bombers first. But at speed 1, I can just let them come to me.
Still think it's going to be twin Torpedoes. It's an upgrade we already know of and is currently under-utilized.

I wouldn't be surprised if they roll out a PS:6 character similar to night beast. Green manuever, free action: target lock. I do agree that the any movement free target lock would be insanly powerful unless they made the base cost of the bomber 19 points. I could see that special ability being very useful as a tie bomber pilot though.
I think a free focus if the ship performs a green manuver (or forward manuver) is more likely in all honesty. TL+Focus combo is a good one for TIE bombers but Target Lock is too powerful.
And honestly I don't know who they'd pull out of the ether to become aces for these things. Were there any Imperial aces out there who specialized in Bombers? I know Stele was a streach because there weren't any other Advanced pilots other than Vader… even though Stele never flew that kind of fighter! But who could be aces for the Bomber?
who would the aces be?
B-wing or tie bomber

What benefit does a 3rd slow moving ship with a bunch of defense bring? On the other hand I think the Imperials could benefit more from the tie bomber, but what are they bombing (slow moving rebel ships with a lot of shield power)?
Does there NEED to be a benefit?
Here's a wild and crazy thought… maybe the B-Wing will be fairly interchangeable with the Y-Wing, and people will still buy it because they like the different looking model?!?

We will find out in a few hours either which way, but still….
I'm not trying to be mean or rude, but why would you want a B-Wing fairly interchangeable with a Y-Wing because people would like a differnet looking model? I think the more logical approach would be to make indivdual booster packs for more Y-Wing pilots and distance the B-Wing as far as possible. I am in the jedi_moose camp about giving this ship bombing abilities or something that we currently do not have. If you make it interchangeable I don't think people would buy more than 1 (or 2, depends on the upgrades). We are only on waive 3, I don't think it would be in FFG's best interest to make ships interchangeable until much much later (anf after a ship is no longer in production). I find it hard on any level (friendly or tournament) where people would want to play with rebels, where most ships are similar, meanwhile you have a very balanced imperial navy. These are just my thoughts, and I could very well be proven wrong in a couple of hours. Again this is nothing personal against you.
I am going to be buying two just because. I don't know anything about them, but they are a cool model and I am a huge star wars fan. Same goes with the Tie bomber. I will probably end up spending $100+ on this wave just like the last wave. I like options and more ships = more options. Besides, B-Wings are cool looking ships. A-Wings are cool looking ships. Well, every ship except the Y-Wing are cooling looking ships, so it makes sense that I only own 1 Y-wing but multiples of every other ship, regardless of their playability.

TIE Bomber
Tomax Bren I guess. He's the commander of the Imperial Navy's Scimitar Assault Wing "White Death"

I haven't seen any pilots released for waive 3, but I am assuming Keyan Farlandar will be The B-Wing Ace (although he would also fit in nicely with a X and or Y wing)
