Remove an icon

By adamdynris, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

When my opponent choose his attacker and kneel it, they must have the icon for the challenge.

But if Locked away is attached to one of these character and I kneel one influence to remove this icon. My opponent have to remove this character from the challenge or the character can continue the challenge because he have the icon before to be kneelin??

Thanks

I'd check out the FAQ. This is literally the first question in the questions section. (page 21)

Since the character is already in the challenge, it no longer matters what icons it has.

:( I pass through the faq before to go here…. But notreading all just look at. The next time, I'll read before to ask!!

thanks

Once a character has been declared as a participant in a challenge (by any means) it will remain a participant in a challenge unless a game effect explicitly removes it from the challenge. Losing an icon will not remove it from the challenge.

So in you example, your opponent does not need to remove their character from the challenge. If you remove the icon before they declare attackers or defenders, then the character could not participate in the challenge from which its icon is removed. However, there is no action window while your opponent is declaring attackers to remove icons. You must remove the icons before he begins to declare attackers or you will not have an opportunity to do so.

TL:DR - You must remove the icons before he begins declaring attackers (the pre-challenge player action window) or losing the icon won't matter.
