Base and Stand Quality

By Waterhobit, in X-Wing

I'm sure that I'm not the only one with this problem, but I'm wondering if anybody has found a solution that doesn't dq your collection from turnaments. When I put together my ships with their bases, there is always one or two that have a rather severe angle to them, close to being a 45 degree angle. I'm referring to the fact that the ship does not align properly with the firing arc. And only one or two are ever straight. By switching around pegs and bases on different ships, I can mitigate the issue, but it is still a frustration. But what bothers me even more is that I'm wearing out my stands by doing so, not only are the fittings becoming looser, but there is visible stress in the female connections.

I would love to switch over to an aftermarket stand system, like the Omni-Stand system from Corsec Eng., but I cant justify the expense at the moment, and I'm still not sure I want to ruin my ships for turnament play.

I would go ahead and get a set of after-market bases for casual play, that way you have your "official" bases and stands for tourney play.

I had an X-wing model that did that dramatically, because the plug on the bottom of the ship was glued in crooked. Consequently I cracked a peg in the same way you are describing. I submitted it to FFG via the web form with pictures and they sent me a whole new X-wing model with a new peg set (and I think base) as well.
