X-Wing Organized Play in the San Antonio, TX Area?

By Ibberben, in X-Wing Organized Play

So while the X-Wing communities in Austin and Dallas seem to be somewhat large, I am having trouble finding the same type of community in San Antonio. Granted, Austin is a short drive away, but I'd rather see the game continue to grow in new areas. Now, I don't mean to suggest that there are NO players in San Antonio; I've managed to be a part of a couple of games, but the community doesn't seem very large (or at least not very organized). Most of the gamers just seem to be part of a larger boardgaming group that often focuses on other games which is fine, but I'm really only looking for X-Wing at the moment, so I'd rather find or start something that is a bit more focused. Soooo…

1. Are there any players in the San Antonio (or surrounding) area that are looking for organized X-Wing play?

2. Any suggestions from players in areas with organized leagues on how to get something similar started?

All suggestions and players are welcome!

The place where the regional tournament is being held….I will be visiting family in San Antonio and plan on hitting it up!

Well yes, Dragon's Lair is awesome and I am registered for the regional there (so I'll see you there if you happen to make it!)

I'm attempting a two pronged approach here - 1. attempt to locate local players online (who maybe haven't ventured into the LCGS to play yet) as well as solicit ideas for how to set up, coordinate and maintain organized/league play (which is apparently not being done by any of the local shops) and 2. visit game nights at the LCGS when possible to locate people that way. Unfortunately, the second route has not been met with overwhelming success so far

do you have to preregister for the regional?

Thanks for the link.

Knight Watch Games will be hosting X Wing Tournaments in early 2016. The owners are moving from Germany to San Antonio to open their gaming tournament center soon.
