What do you think of this Firespray Build?

By Rogue_Four, in X-Wing

Maybe I'm crazy, but I was wondering if running just 2 Firesprays would be feasible. I haven't been able to test this thoroughly, but it held up well against 3 X-Wings (Wedge, Garven, Rookie.)

Krassus Trelix: Heavy Cannon, Proximity Mine, Cluster Missiles.

Kath Scarlet: Slave 1, Proton Torpedo, Cluster Missiles, Mercenary Copilot, Deadeye, Seismic Charge.

By the end of the dogfight I had Krassus with 2 pts of hull damage and Scarlet had 1. I was able to take out Wedge with an initial volley from Kath's proton torpedo and Krassus' heavy cannon. Basically the build relies on massive amounts of damage in the very beginning and sending your opponent reeling. I have yet to try it against a YT1300 build but so far I have found X-wings to be the biggest bane to Imp squads.

Glad you're having fun. Have the mines worked For you? I like your build, I painted one like Jango Fett just to do the same.. just have fun.

Sorry for the double post.

I love the Proximity mine, but the seismic is only so-so. I wish it exploded for more damage, but it is what it is. I know its kind of out of the norm to not use the Firespray's Ion cannon, but I didnt have enough points to incorporate it and all of Kath's armament. I could have taken away from Krassis but I love his Heavy Cannon mixed with his ability. It's awesome that with Krassis and heavy cannon you will be attacking with 4 attack dice from any distance. I used Kath to bring down their shields and Krassis to finish them off, or leaving them seriously limping.

what I would change here is remove the deadeye and seismic charge from Kath and give her the ion. It sets your opponents movements. If a crit gets canceled on the ion it still counts for giving stress and you have a slim chance of ioning and stressing, with better odds of stressing or ioning with at least one taking effect. That way Kath sets em up and Krassis takes em out.

You need a gunner with the heavy cannon. :)

I ran a similiar list (krassis with 2 missiles instead, and kath with one), In my experience, it does excellently against 3 ship builds (excluding falcon and two Ys). For a long time, I was smashing the living daylights out of everything, but then they learned how to deal with them, and it was just downhill from there. against 4 or more ships with decent weapons and a decent player, they will get torn to pieces. I would rather run one with 4 ties than two firesprays.
