Best Prices You Have found

By jedi moose, in X-Wing

Hi everyone. I Thought it might be nice to have a topic on some of the best places to buy the game and expansions. New people to the game would probably appreciate the info as would all of us for our future purchases.

Miniaturemarket.com has the best prices i've seen. If you have $100 to spend you can get free shipping too. But if you aren't looking to make such a large purchase i've found that buying 3 expansions (i don't know about the large ships but 3 of the regular size ones) seems to give you the best shipping price if you are willing to do 1st class mail. Obviously your shipping price could vary depending on where you live, but for me 3 expansions shipped to Arizona comes to a total of $11.11 per ship including the shipping cost.. I might have to wait a little longer for the shipment but I'm willing to do that to get the best price. And actually i've found that 1st class mail is usually as quick as other more expensive options, sometimes even quicker, and they deliver on weekends. When you go to 4 expansions or the larger items (Core and I assume the larger base ships) you lose the 1st class mail ship option and the price goes up due to having to use priority mail or UPS.

I know this may only make a differnce of a dollar or 2, but this can be a pretty expensive hobby so every dollar I save adds up to more ships i can afford. I'd appreciate any other suggestions that you all might have, too.

Happy Gaming

The best place I have found is http://www.coolstuffinc.com/ . Their prices were low, they shipped the same day I ordered, and my stuff arrived with free shipping in 3 days. Very highly recommended.

I have also ordered from http://www.miniaturemarket.com/ . Their prices were nearly identical and they had some Interceptors / A-Wings in stock when coolstuff was out of them so I gave them a try. I paid for priority mail shipping. They took 4 days to process and ship, so net time was actually a day longer than coolstuff took to get my stuff to me for free. Still, no problems with the order so I wouldn't hesistate to recommend them, but they were certainly not as on the ball as coolstuff was.

I usually have to spend a lot of time trawling bricks and mortar stores, FLGS and online retailers. All my purchases for x-wing have been from different sources: First core through Funagain via Amazon Spain, wave 1 expansions from Coolstuffinc and my latest Tie Interceptors from Bookdepository. My first point of call is always my FLGS, but out here in NZ it can be a no brainer to look overseas; even international postage can save you money compared with local prices.

My experience was kinda like this. I got my core set and 1 of each wave 1 expansion from an ebay auction for around $98. I bought a second core set from my local comic store. I bought A-Wings and the large ships from Amazon (because A-Wings sold out literally while I was browsing miniaturemarket.com). I got my Interceptors from barnesandnoble.com. I got an extra TIE Fighter from Barnes and Noble physical location, and I got an extra X-Wing from my local comic book store. So that brings my fleets to:

  • 2 Core sets
  • -2 X-Wings
  • -4 TIE Fighters
  • 2 X-Wing Expansions
  • 2 TIE Fighter Expansions
  • 1 Y-Wing Expansion
  • 1 TIE Advanced Expansion
  • 3 A-Wing Expansions
  • 3 TIE Interceptors Expansions
  • 1 YT-1300 Expansion
  • 1 Firespray 31 Expansion

I wanted a lot, but I wanted it as quick as possible. I was buying from wherever I could find them cheap. Only paid full MSRP for 1 core set.

Except for my LGS the above mentioned two online sources are always a good bet.

There was one week where amazon had the ships for $6-$8USD!!!
I bought up a bunch! by the weekend they were back up to $14ea.
