Critique this Firespray build

Effective? Fun? Pipe Dream?

There are a few synergies going on here, I'll try to explain what's going on.

Kath Scarlett

-Merc Copilot

-Ion Cannon

-Marksmanship

Mauler Mithell

-Vet Instincts

Howlrunner

-Squad Leader

Backstabber

99 or 100pts Not sure, doing it by memory right now. :P

So, we've got Mauler and Kath running together side by side….backstabber running alongside maybe more to the right/left/whatever is appropriate, and howlrunner flying in such a manner as to be available to everyone for buffing.

In the shooting turn before the merge, you use howlrunner to get squadleader on Kath. She's going to bust up Marksmanship AND target lock. The goal is to get a target ship ionized AND stressed for the next turn for a sure kill. With the Ion Cannon, the goal is to get as many crits as you can…you just want the other guy to dodge at least one….but still get hit, hence, ionized AND stressed thanks to Kath's ability. Ion cannon doesnt change the fact that the crit result is a crit…it just dictates the way you take damage during resolution. Kath's ability makes her an intriging Ion cannon user.

So, hopefully you've Ionized and stressed a juicy target…We'll say a pimped out Wedge, because every imperial likes to see him bite the dust! :)

You should be in position to pounce on him next turn since you know EXACTLY where he'll be for the most part. Ideally, you'll position Mauler within range 1- 4 dice, Hopefully Backstabber within range 1 for 4 dice, and Kath close up for ideally yet ANOTHER 4 dice. ideally you'll position howlrunner closeby as well in order to buff everyone and lend her Lasers to the fight as well…..should be a for sure dead fighter on the Rebel side, and with generally high pilot skill in the right situation you might take him out w/o a return fire.

There's a lot of things going on in this little tactic, but the more synergies and plans you've got going on…the more chance there is of SOME of them going off. I just liked this ideal scenario as a startoff. Perhaps it could work.

At any rate, Kath looks to be a VERY interesting Ion Cannon user with this little plan.

I've used Kath in a couple of different ways, but the big thing I've found trying something like this is that its hard to keep Howl Runner alive, close enough to everything, AND use squad leader. You're probably better off to run Push the Limits on Kath instead of Markmanship even though it will cost you a chance at an extra crit. If you do ionize something, you'll know where its going so you should be able to make a green move and get the stress off of Kath.

Wow. I do like this combo. You are playing this right and giving that crit some major crit power. My only thing is that it is only effective when you get two or more crits.

kind of funny, i came up with a list a while back that was very similar.

well actually not that similar…hehe, i've used this 12 times and lost once, the red die love me and the green ones too because i manage to keep howlrunner alive for at least 5 turns.

I have fallen in love with Krassis and Heavy Cannon. One of my favorite combos. You should check out my dual Firespray build using Kath and Krassis.

Firesprays are fun. Personally I think they broke Firesprays by giving all the pilots great abilities. I really like the OP's build as well. I may try it out this Friday.
