to sum up
- Announcement will be May 3rd
- Four ships will be released again
- They will be released this Summer (hopefully no delays)
- They will apparently shake up the current meta
yeah,
Very exciting.
New Ships Ahoy!
We all seem to agree on the three most likely as b-wing, tie bomber and lamda
I Can't wait to see what the four ships will actually be!
Panic…
double post… sorry
One will probably be a Death Star. To scale of course.
Or…..
it may be an entirely new faction, remember that the two factions out now have only 4 ships each.
interesting stuff
also they changed the summer thing to in stores soon
i shouldve taken a screenshot
I would love, love, love some gunships (B-Wing, TIE Bomber) and or some smaller capital ships (Corvettes, Patrol Ships, etc.). There are also a whole slew of other fighters from the books and EU that would be fun to see on a table top. I am excited to see what we get, regardless of what they are I will enjoy playing them, and now I can confidently look foward to summer to play them! WOOT!
So, I'll know soon enough if I can complete the TIE wing of the ISD Antagonist. Excellent.
Time for another thread where we list off all the things we hope the "other 2" ships will be that aren't the obvious B-Wing/TIE Bomber. Hopefully it'll be the last Wave 3 speculation regurgitation. Then we can all go right to Wave 4 instead of being happy with what we have.
Seriously though, I think there was some concern that this Starfield thing was going to be it for awhile with regards to release news, so it's good to know that we'll definitely be seeing word on new ships sooner rather than later.
This summer, you say!? Now . . . I really can't wait for Gen Con. August cannot come soon enough.
So place your bets on what the 4 ships will be…
I'm going B-Wing, TIE Bomber (okay those have to be no-brainers), Z-95 and TIE Defender. I am uncertain about the last two given the large ship rumours coming out of Germany but I honestly can't think of any large ships that would shake up the metagame the same way that those two fighters would.
Hopefully the guys & gals lucky enough to see the reveal won't take too long to post the info! It's a shame that the conference is a bit of a trek from the UK…

Just thought of this, what if some of the ships were "medium" sized and 1.5 sized bases? That would mess with judging distance, a little.

Can we get an ewok glider also
?
The 1.5 base size is a very interesting idea. If you do a little research online about the size of the B-wing it would seem to make perfect sense, too. A B-wing appears to be a larger ship than the X-wing and certainly larger than the A-wing. Yet obviously it wouldn't be as large as the Falcon or Slave 1. The only problem is that the Tie bomber doesn't really appear to fit the same qualification. Although it appears to be a little larger than the other tie ships, it isn't as large as the B-wing so may not justify a larger base
Here is a link to a Starfighter size chart. The images and dimension comparison may not be completely accurate though. Maybe there is a better image out there to give us an idea of the size of these ships

It may not be about the size of the ship but about the range of the firing arc
take a look at the MF and the S1, the MF doesnt even fit on the base and the S1 is a tad too small for it.
i feel that they may do the 1.5 size to justify a bigger firing arc than usual, but not bigger than the MF or S1
just a thought

Wouldn't they just have the ship vertical / attack mode to fit it on a normal base?
I still think we're getting a YT-2400. Throw in a Dash Rendar pilot card and an Outrider upgrade card along with the other cards.

True. I would think though that the decission would have to more about the size of the ship, not the shape. The Firespray is vertical and clearly could fit on a smaller base (although not as small as the normal X-wing/Tie base), but they put it on the same size base as the YT. I think the decision could be made on the overall mass of the ship. The firespray having a vertical shape, the YT having a more horrizontal shape, but both being roughfly the same size. I'm just saying that although a B-wing could fit on a normal base size, in the Star Wars universe the overall mass of the ship is larger than the small base ships we currently have but smaller than the large base ships. To me this would justify a base size somewhere in between as others have suggested. The same could probably be said for the lambda shuttle.
My main hope is that they stick with the Episode 4-6 era.
Keep the peas out of my porridge!
