Hello, my LotR friends.
So, I've been working on building my card pool, as I'm a late comer to the game. I don't have the finances to buy all the expansions yet, but I'm slowly building. As it stands, I have the following: 1x Core, Entire Mirkwood Series, RtR, TWitW, SaF, and KD. Wish this collection, would anyone have a good deck build that works well for solo questing? I've not had a lot of success on my own and I've gotten a bit frustrated with trying to analyse my deck.
Additionally, my best friend would like to join me from time to time with a side deck built from my leftover cards, but again….without knowing what I'm doing with mine, I'm horrible at suggesting a build for him.
Are there any decks out there that I might be able to use, using only what I have so far? Most of the decks everyone has been suggesting require even more APs and Expansions, which are out of my budget for another two months. I'd love some suggestions from the masters.
Thanks for your time and any decks you might suggest.
Suggested Decks For Solo Play + Occasional 2nd Player Deck
hey
for when you can get another pack id recommend foundations of stone, then you have glorfindel and can build my favourite deck - glorfindel / lore aragorn / frodo (people must be sick of me going on about by now haha)
….but thats not what you asked, so instead i would try
gloin / dain / bifur or thalin / dain / bifur
out of these i prefer the second one
bifur is amazing, get steward of gondor on him, and with his ability to take another heros resourse, thats 4 per turn.
then you feed those resources to longbeard mapmaker to buff up his questing power. pair that with erebor record keeper for even more quest power
dain stays ready and you then quest with thalin to get rid of those annoying 1 health point crows and so on. then get unexpected courage on dain and he can defend with his 3 defence, or even better get some dunedain warnings on him
have some axes, both dwarven adn dwarrowdelf, and some killing allies
i dont think you have battlemaster (in the long dark) but if you ever have him he is deadly. otherwise just ready dain if you can and give each dwarf +1 attack, probably good to have some vetern axehands in there
the weakness to this deck is its lack of spirit heros. you can easily (well relatively easily) get ruond this by having narvis belt and some song cards just in case it takes some time to get it out. then have the core spirit cards in (test of will/ hasty stroke /dwarven tomb)
this give you a 4 sphere deck. alot of people dont like this, and it can be quite difficult to pay for cards. i think you really need some card draw mechanisms in there…..have legacy of durin (if you have it) which really helps on card draw…or if you want to go against the theme, wealth of lorien
other must have cards in most of my decks are
forest snare….with all those lore cards you neednt worry about being able to play this one
test of will / hasty stroke …..pretty much always needed for treachery and shadow cards
dwarven tomb….this is very important for those with 1 core set….you really need to recycle those test of will cards
ancient mathom….this card is great, 3 cards for 1 cost…..
feint.
hope this helps
ill edit with more ideas as they come
for a friends deck my most powerful ones are always the mono sphere tactics decks…ie. 3 tactics heros. you use this alongside a good questing deck such as the one above. have feint and thicket of spears, and you can fend off most attacks leaving the other free to defend
its important to have ranged and sentinel cards in there, legolas works great for this deck with blade of gondolin
my usual questing deck to go with the tactics one is the glorfindel/frodo/strider one i mentioned at the start. then have arwen ive frodo +1 defense and sentinel and get some fast hitches on him
he then defends using his damage cancellation if he needs and then your archers unleash hell on the enemies with ranged
an alternate strategy to the super questing resource deck that i posted is the same idea but with card draw…..this used to be with protector of lorien however it isnt as powerful anymore after the errata limited it per turn
rich
I've been keeping this post updated for a long time, with my solo deck and the deck that I play 2-man games with. Hope you like them!
