Greetings to all !

Have just joined the forums and would just like to introduce myself and say hi before i start posting questions and thoughts about this great game! I'm 31 years old and come from the small island of Cyprus located in the Mediterranean Sea. My nationality is Greek/Cypriot. Huge fan of fantasy RPGs, mainly on console gaming but the one board game which has captivated me since childhood is of course Talisman.

I own the Talisman 2nd edition along with "Talisman: The Adventure" expansion and also the "Timescape" expansion. Spent many many hours on this game during my childhood, together with my 2 older brothers and my dad but sometime around my mid-teen years, it was put away in the closet mainly due to my brothers going away for studies and my dad being too busy with work. It was only last week when i stumbled upon a random article which included the word "talisman" and triggered my memory of it. One of my brothers had kept the game but even he had no recollection of doing so. Gave him a call and long story short, he found it way up high in a closet and gave it to me just to bring back some memories. Tonight, me and my wife started a game for the very first time. I feel like i'm 11 again

Anyway, that's my story. And to sum it up i'm holding up a surprise for my bro's and my dad. I've asked a local games store to order for me the revised 4th edition of Talisman along with all the 8 expansions and will invite them over once i have them for a supposedly 2nd Edition get-together gaming session

It's great to hear about the excitement of a returning, old-school player. I only got into Talisman two Christmases ago, but I'm excited to think about all the fun you're gonna have! See you on the boards.

Indeed, the excitement is tremendous I was so pleased to find out after so many years that this great game has made it throughout all these years and even got revised and got so many expansions! Just received today the Reaper Expansion (was the only one available IN stock here in Cyprus) and i'm quite impressed by all the artwork put into everything about it! Now i'll have to wait till the middle of May to get the other 8 parts (The Revised 4th Edition plus another 7 expansions).

Oh well… Good things are worth waiting for

Your story sounds a lot like others', including mine -- I played the second edition back in the 80s, and forgot about it while my life moved away from fantasy and games for more than 20 years. Then I saw the 4th ed. in a game store, and was happy to see it was back in print…bought it, and like you said, felt like I was ten years old. I'm re-discovering all sorts of books and games that I'd played as a kid thanks to that first experience. I'm even re-stocking my library with books I loved when I was younger, but lost or sold or whatever over the years. It's been a blast. Glad to hear you're having fun…be sure to post again once that game takes place.

It's great to hear from people who relate to my story As you, i have also recently started seeking out long lost memories. 80's nostalgia i guess…

I'm expecting the game to take place during the first days of June as i'll have to wait for my order to arrive around the end of May. At the moment i have only received the reaper expansion and i'm keeping myself busy by painting the 5 figures that came with it. Although painting is the last thing i have knowledge or skill of, i think im doing a decent job so far (will post pictures of the 5 figures eventually).

What i would like to ask fellow board-gamers who own the 4th revised edition along with all the expansions, is how much time would a 4-player game consisting of all expansions take to complete? Would you recommend playing with certain expansions at a time? The image i have in my mind of that first get-together game is a lot of time being spent on checking out rules coz obviously there's gonna be a lot of new things there.

I'm also a 2nd ED/'80s player. We so loved and still love this game, though we don't play as often, maybe, almost once a month… SIGH!

I've even played a simple version with my 7 year old granddaughter. Hope she likes to play more as she gets older.

Painted any for the Highland or Dragon expansion yet? I have a couple of gaps in the gallery pages over at Talisman Island!

Your pieces look good much better than mine. I love the game but I don't have the patience nor talent to paint them well.

i wish there was some kind of option to get them painted already.

Unfortunately i've only got the Reaper Expansion at the moment. Still waiting for my shipment of the revised 4th Edition plus the other 7 expansions to arrive sometime next month. Will gladly help to fill up those gaps you got there as i'm planning of painting all the miniatures in time

Lol the wife did the wizard. It's one of the best painted peices we have for sure.

The ogre chieftain is part of the frost march expansion

I only asked about the Ogre because his base doesn't look like the standard ones. Custom made? And since we're talking about bases… Can anyone give out some tips or sources about cool base design? The one's with grass i saw at Talisman Island look fantastic !

I know you can go to games workshop and they have base kits that have grass and rocks and stuff like that.

its ment for war hammer but it would work the same for talisman.

I've recently gotten into painting the Talisman minis, and naturally, I'd hoped to submit some of them to your site! However, the ones I've done so far are already taken. But… what if you accepted photos of each mini from everyone, and each time the page was loaded, a random member's picture of that mini came up? That way, everyone could submit their minis, and those pages would stay fresh and interesting all the time (it's useful to see how different people paint the same mini!). Then, if you clicked on the photo, it would take you to a page where you could see all the submitted photos for that particular miniature.

Could such a thing be possible? I know that when I go to paint a miniature, I search endlessly for references of what other people have already done… it would be great to have it all in one place!

Oh ya it is. Someone just has to set up a photo gallery of each character. The harder thing to do would be to get people to submit photos of all their peices.

Well count me in! I have 21 painted and counting.

Eventually i will miniatures from all expansions done and would love to submit them.

I am sure if enough people want this, it could and SHOULD be done :-)
