Plot - When Revealed - Moribund

By HastAttack, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

I've read that cards stay in moribund when dealing with multiple "when revealed" plot cards …

Player a) reveals Valar Morghulis - characters are killed and become moribund … i..e one being a holy character

Player b) Many Powers Long Asleep (When revealed, put a Holy character into play from your dead pile)

The reveals are done in the order Valar and then Many Powers

Player b) can not select a character killed by Valar as it is still moribund

Isn't this an odd situation? - seems like all the When Reveals are a single action

I had been playing, resolve on plot card (including moving from moribund to discard/kill pile and then move onto the next plot card …

Presumably this impacts on other plot card combinations …. i.e. If player b) reveals Red Wedding instead

Would he be able to choose a lord or lady in moribund, or would both lord and lady need to be still in play

Maybe only ther lord or lady that will be killed has to be in play and the one that claims power can be in moribund?

Assuming that there is a lord and lady still in play (or moribund characters can be targetted)

Can I add 2 power to a lord and still get to count my total power at that stage, including any power on characters that are in moribund (as a result of the Valar plot)

Essentially I am thinking of some end game scenarios where I want to ensure that I can still count all the power

To clarify, it's not really an odd situation. Each plot resolves fully (as you state), in that their effects completely take place. Characters killed by valar are killed before Many Powers Long Asleep, etc - but the catch is that moribund characters don't leave play until the action window closes (eg all passives (Step 4) responding to a resolution are triggered, all responses to that resolution/passives are triggered (Step 5), and the action window closes (Step 6)). The plots initiate/resolve fully one at a time, but the action window is the "Resolve Plots" framework action, so you don't get to respond (eg: Joffrey, Parting Blow) until after all plots have resolved.

The Red Wedding Scenario you illustrate is not an uncommon one.

If Valar and Red Wedding are revealed, and you have both the Lord and Lady, you can kill one and add 2 power to the other, then lose them all to Valar - those two power will count towards your power total until the card leaves play at the end of the action window. You could potentially seal the deal by using Joffrey (response: after a lord or lady is killed, claim 1 power (limit 3/round) to respond to the Lord, the Lady, and himself dying for a total of 3 power.

It's worth noting that a Moribund card is still in play for all purposes. As such, you can choose a lord and lady in moribund (or both) for Red Wedding. However, if the "kill one" isn't resolved successfully (eg, both are already moribund), then the other character would not claim 2 power. In addition, if one is moribund (or cannot be killed) and the other is not, you would *have* to kill the non-moribund (or killable) one.

I'll nitpick a bit here. It's not the resolution of the kill that needs to be successful (the chosen character can be saved and the other will still claim 2 power). It's the targetting that needs to be successful (and in case both Lord and Lady are already moribund/cannot be killed/immune, it fails).

thanks

The query was really on the plots being the other way around - so that I am relying on the moribund trick with plot cards after Valar has played

Valar's revealed occurs first - evereyone dies but I have a duplicate of Joffrey, so he survives - I have several power on characters that were killed

Then Red Wedding - Joffrey is elected as the lord to die, the lady who gets the 2 power is also one of my characters, now in moribund

I total up all my power and with the 2 from red wedding and 3 on Joffrey for lords/ladies being killed, I reach 15 and win the game!

Sounds like it is all ok - just need to ensure a killable lord or lady is still in play

best way to make sure this goes off without a hitch is make red wedding go off first, then you don't have to worry about saves, etc if it will get you to 15 power.
