Friends?

By JCHendee, in Talisman

Does anyone know more (where to learn more) of what Friends on this forum mean? Are there certain benefits, features, functions that are allowed only through confirmed friends? I know the points system has some pointed out benefits in certain raffles (?) held by FFG, but I can't seem to find much on "friends."

Just curious.

Hi JC,

Thanks for adding me to your friendlist.

The only thing where i can think of, is that you can send private messages to each other& and you earn points for it.

Greetings

I presume it is a bid to foster some sense of community here at the forums, and as Velhart says it is possible to PM people who are in your Friend's List. Perhaps they will have some other features added to the website eventually that will make more use of the association.

There are no PM's with this current form software.

By adding folks as friends, if you enable it, they are able to see your email address, and then they can email you directly off site.

In theory folks who like to trade can use that to contact one another.

The reality is most folks who are doing the trading aren't bothering to add one another, those that are, aren't making their email address visible to their friends, and are instead simply posting their email address in their trade thread posts.

Yes, there are PMs now.

Go to your profile, click to see your list of friends and there is a PM icon next to them.

..and as an aside, The column to the left of the PM icon shows a birthday cake when it is one of your friends has a birthday!

A birthday cake will appear? Funny gran_risa.gif partido_risa.gif

Yes, it's true! gran_risa.gif

I had one appear on my account at the Edge forums.

Thanks for the update, guys. And indeed, looks like a PM system is in place.

Thanks for pointing that out! It seems to work... but interestingly enough... You get the following message when you send one:

The message has been sent correctly. Please take into account that this message was sent through Fantasy Flight and that the recipient will not be able to answer you directly with their e-mail application, they must use this service following the same steps as you.

No personal information, email, etc. appears in this message: the only thing about you that appears is your Community Player's name.

It appears in your inbox in your email, and nothing is actually kept on this site.

Correct... it actually sends an "email" and not a true forum PM... which is kind of convoluted, since you can't answer it unless you go back to the forum it came from. Still, at least you have a way to get in touch privately.
