Two handed elf decks

By richsabre, in Strategy and deck-building

here are the two decks i have been using for perhaps 6-8 months now. id like to share them as i have had a lot of great wins with them. the decks are also nice and themeatic

the general idea was brought from my 'flight to the ford' deck, which consists of strider (who i call lore aragorn) spirit glorfindel and frodo

in this deck frodo is switched with elrond to make

DECK 1

elrond / glorfindel (s) / strider

im never one for posting complete deck lists as i believe decks can (and should) be adjusted to taste, but the general idea with this deck is everything but fight.

attatchments

have all the obvious noldor cards that we got in the dwarrowdelf cycle. glorfindel needs light of valinor and asfaloth, elrond get UC so he can defend allowing ranged to hit across the table, and aragorn will get the sword that was broken from the other deck.

i like traps so put in 3 copies of spikes and as many copies of snare as you have.

with asfaloth pciking off locations its nice to run 3 copies of ancient mathom.

burning brand to put on elrond. i also like to run a copy of song of earendil to help the other deck with threat…the deck with strider in doesnt need to worry so much with his reset ability.

allies

put in master of the forge and stargazer to get out the attatchments. have 3 copies of ithillien track (not so themeatic haha) to manage threat in the staging area.

a couple of mirkwood runners to pick off weaker enemies, and a couple copies of haldir. i also run a copy of daughter of nimrodel for healing.

arwen is for questing and her ability and i also run a copy of core gandalf for some hitting power.

events

put in the usual test of will and hasty stroke. i like to have elrounds counsel and galadrims greeting for threat management. dwarven tomb to get the key cards back in your hand.

i also run a few of the cheap events such as radagasts cunning and its location counterpart.

DECK 2

this deck is for fighting only. its very powerful, and taps into the great synergy between the twins.

Ellandan / elrohir / legolas

attatchments

play 3 copies of sword of rivendell, 2 copies of rivendell bow, 2 copies of blade of gondolin, and a couple copies of the new spear. have the sword that was broken and celebrians stone to give to aragorn, i also like to have a copy of song of kings to help even out the spheres and steward of gondor for resources. also run a copy or two of song of battle

run 3 copies of dunedain warning to boost elrohirs stats

allies

i like to run 3 copies of trollshaw scout and watcher of the bruinen and another copy of gandalf core. thats it for allies. in this deck they really arent needed so much as the twins can ready and handle most enemies, especially when given some stat boosts.

events

run feint and thicket of spears to handle enemies attacks. i also like to run swift strike and goblin cleaver to compliment the spear with dealing damage. hands upon the bow for legolas is one we all love. i also really like fresh tracks for those pesky 1 health enemies.

run parting gifts to help with all the tactics cards that the deck has.

i also run dawn take you all, its even worth it for the artwork

thats the general idea of the decks. the way they work really isnt that hard to figure out. deck 1 deals with questing and deck 2 deals with all the enemies and also helps with progress.

hope you like

Quite interesting, i runned the same combination of heroes a few months ago and they can win 90% of the time. I sometimes used Hama instead of Legolas with scenarios with particularly nasty enemies. Although i don´t use the trap cards or the dunedain attachments. Noldor is one of the strongest races at the moment, i think that Dwarves are more powerful only beacuse of Dain. Without him i think Glorfindel, Elrond and their respective cards could be stronger than Dwarves. By the way i am now running a semi-noldor solo deck wiht Glorfindel (Spirit), Elrond and Bard the Bowman with good results. Anyway good decks, Strider with Gandalf (hobbit) becomes crazy-powerful. With STWB Gandalf can quest with 5 willpower and be ready for combat duties.

I really love the decks… Thank you very much for sharing…

Do you use Elrond's ring at all? There's no mention of it…

i occsasionally put it in for when i want to combo it with the stargazer, but to me it just doesnt work well it the deck…i dont think its 'fast' enough getting the combo up and running
